An optically variable security element for securing valuable articles, has a relief grid having a plurality of relief elements arranged in a grid pattern and at least one line grid arranged vertically above or below the relief grid and having a plurality of line elements that run substantially in the same direction and that are location-dependently modulated. The relief grid and the at least one line grid coact to produce for a viewer, through the location-dependent modulation of the line elements, a surface that, with respect to the area of the security element, jumps out and/or back in the form of a specified three-dimensional image motif.

Optically variable security element

The present invention relates to an optically variable security element for securing valuable articles, having a substrate having opposing first and second main surfaces and, arranged on the first main surface, an optically variable pattern that comprises an embossing pattern and a coating. The coating comprises at least one imprinted line grid and a background layer that contrasts with the line grid. The embossing pattern comprises a two-dimensional grid of elevated and/or depressed embossing elements. Both are combined in such a way that substantially on every embossing element lies at least one line segment of a line in the line grid, and at least one of the parameters position of the line segment on the embossing element, orientation of the line segment on the embossing element and form of the line segment varies location dependently across the dimension of the optically variable pattern. Due to the line grid, a movement effect, especially a pump or rotation effect, is created when the security element is tilted.

An optically variable security arrangement for securing valuable articles, comprises a first sub-element having a two-dimensional relief grid composed of a plurality of grid elements and that has, in at least one spatial direction R, a first line screen p below 500 &#x3bc;m, and in which the grid elements are each formed from at least two relief elements that are directionally reflective in different directions, and a second sub-element having at least one dot and/or line grid that, in a spatial direction R, has a second line screen q. A movement effect is created by the interplay of the relief grid and the dot and/or line grid when the security arrangement is tilted.

Optically variable security arrangement

The present invention is directed to a method for supplying an optical security element in a value document, as well as to an accordingly devised apparatus for adjusting an optical security element as well as to the value document per se. According to the invention a method is proposed which makes it possible to supply a known optical security element in an especially simple technical way, without a vapor deposition of embossed structures being necessary in this connection. Further the present invention is directed to a computer program product having control commands, which executes the method or operates the proposed apparatus.
