The compounds may be used as host materials for phosphorescent dopants in organic light-emitting devices. 

Compound, composition and organic light-emitting device

A phosphorescent compound of formula (I): wherein: M is a transition metal; Cis a carbon atom forming a metal-carbene bond with M; A is a saturated bridged bicyclic or saturated bridged tricyclic group consisting of one nitrogen atom and 6-12 carbon atoms; either: (i) Xis a bridgehead carbon atom of the bridged bicyclic or bridged tricyclic group and Xis NRwherein Ris a substituent, or (ii) Xis N and Xis a bridgehead group of formula CRwherein Ris H or a substituent; Aris a Caromatic group or a 5-20 membered heteroaromatic group; L in each occurrence is independently a mono- or poly-dentate ligand other than a ligand of formula A-Ar; x is at least 1; and y is 0 or a positive integer. The compound of formula (I) may be used as a blue light-emitting material in a white organic light-emitting device.

Light-Emitting Compound A composition comprising a light-emitting compound having a peak wavelength of at least 650 nm and a material comprising a group of formula (I): wherein Ar, Arand Arin each occurrence are independently selected from a Caromatic group and a 6-20 membered heteroaromatic group of C and N ring atoms and at least one of Ar, Arand Aris a 6-20 membered heteroaromatic group of C and N ring atoms; x, y and z are each independently at least 1; n, m and p are each independently 0 or a positive integer; and R, Rand Rin each occurrence is independently a substituent or a single bond to a polymer chain, wherein the group of formula (I) has no more than 3 single bonds to a polymer chain. The composition may be used in the light-emitting layer of an infrared organic light-emitting device.

A compound of formula (I) wherein Z is a group of formula (II) and Core is selected from groups of formula (IIIa) or (IIIb) wherein X is S or O; Ris a substituent; n is 0 or a positive integer; Arindependently in each occurrence is an arylene group; Ris a substituent; Ris a substituent; Ris an arylene or heteroarylene group; Y is C or Si; a is 1, 2 or 3; b is 0 or a positive integer; and c is 0 or a positive integer. The compound of formula (I) may be used as a host for a light-emitting dopant in an organic light-emitting device.

A composition comprising a first material substituted with at least one group of formula (I) and a second material substituted with at least one group selected from groups of formulae (IIa) and (IIb): wherein: Spand Spare spacer groups; NB independently in each occurrence is a norbornene group that may be unsubstituted or substituted with one or more substituents; n1 and n2 are 0 or 1; m1 is 1 if n1 is 0 and m1 is at least 1 if n1 is 1; m2 is 1 if n2 is 0 and m2 is at least 1 if n2 is 1; Arrepresents an aryl or heteroaryl group; Rindependently in each occurrence is H or a substituent; and * represents a point of attachment to the first or second material. The composition may be used to form a layer of an organic electronic device, for example the hole-transporting layer of an organic light-emitting device.

An OLED comprising a hole-transporting layer and light-emitting layer wherein the hole-transporting layer comprises a hole-transporting polymer wherein no more than 5% of the polystyrene equivalent polymer weight measured by gel permeation chromatography consists of chains with weight of less than 50,000.

A composition suitable for use in an organic light-emitting layer () of an organic light-emitting device having an anode () and a cathode (), the composition comprising a fluorescent light-emitting material, a first triplet-accepting material and a second triplet-accepting material that is different from the first triplet-accepting material. The fluorescent light-emitting material may be a repeat unit of a light-emitting polymer, and the first and second triplet-accepting materials may independently be repeat units of the light-emitting polymer or may be mixed with the fluorescent light-emitting material.

Organic light-emitting compositions having multiple triplet-accepting materials, and devices and methods thereof

A light-emitting composition comprises a polymer and a phosphorescent light-emitting material. The polymer comprises conjugating repeat units of formula (I) and up to 20 mol % of conjugation-blocking repeat units of repeat units of formula (II):  Arrepresents an aryl or heteroaryl group; R, which may be the same or different in each occurrence, is a substituent; p is 0 or an integer; Arin each occurrence independently represents a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or heteroaryl group; and Sprepresents an acyclic spacer group that does not provide any conjugation path between the two groups Ar. Optionally, p is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 and each Ris a non-polar substituent. Each Ris advantageously selected from Chydrocarbyl substituents. A light-emitting device comprises an anode, a cathode and a light-emitting layer between the anode and the cathode, the light-emitting layer comprising a light-emitting composition as described.
