A method executed by a local computing device communicatively coupled to a signature device includes launching a signature device control instance including a local web server. The control instance controls the signature device and receives signature data from the signature device, and listens to a localhost and a first port corresponding to a first URL. The method further includes retrieving, by a web browser executing on the local computing device, a web page from a remote server with a second URL. The web page includes a document indicating a context for a signature to be input by the signature device, and a cross-domain reference indicating the first URL. The method further includes, by the web browser, establishing a connection with the first port listened to by the control instance using the first URL; controlling the signature device; and receiving signature data from the signature device.

Multi-user, cross-browser signature platform

Handwriting verification methods and related computer systems, and handwriting-based user authentication methods and related computer systems are disclosed. A handwriting verification method comprises obtaining a handwriting test sample containing a plurality of available parameters, extracting geometric parameters, deriving geometric features comprising an x-position value and a y-position value for each of a plurality of feature points in the test sample, performing feature matching between geometric features of the test sample and a reference sample, determining a handwriting verification result based at least in part on the feature matching, and outputting the handwriting verification result. Techniques and tools for generating and preserving electronic handwriting data also are disclosed. Raw handwriting data is converted to a streamed format that preserves the original content of the raw handwriting data. Techniques and tools for inserting electronic handwriting data into a digital image also are disclosed.

Dynamic handwriting verification, handwriting-based user authentication, handwriting data generation, and handwriting data preservation

A transport layer security (TLS) connection is established between a signature device and the host computer via an interface (e.g., a universal serial bus (USB) interface). The signature device acts as a TLS server, and the host computer acts as a TLS client. Data such as pen data, control data, or image data may be received or transmitted via a USB bulk transfer mechanism. In one aspect, the host computer sends a command via the interface to the signature device to generate a new key pair, receives a certificate signing request (CSR) from the signature device via the interface, sends the CSR to a user certificate authority, receives a public key certificate from the user certificate authority, and sends the public key certificate to the signature device via the interface.
