An apparatus for collecting liquid fractions from a separation/reaction apparatus (). A capillary () guides an extracted liquid fraction to a branching unit (), a collection arrangement () carries a plurality of target vessels () receiving the liquid fraction from the capillary and a fluid line () is flow-connected to a fluid pump () and opens into the branching unit. The capillary and the fluid line each have outlet openings in the direct vicinity of one another at their end facing a target vessel such that liquid emerging from the outlet opening (') of the capillary transitions into the outlet opening (&#x2032;) of the fluid line. This precludes back mixing with earlier/later liquid fractions, precludes uncontrolled dripping of sample substance at the transfer point, speeds displacement of the target vessels in the collection arrangement, facilitates automation of the fraction processing procedure, and results in a more compact fraction collection apparatus.

A monitoring device is provided for analytical measurement of reaction fluid produced in a reaction vessel in a spectrometer with a monitoring cell. The distribution apparatus includes at least four supply and return lines that open into the distribution apparatus, wherein the distribution apparatus comprises a distribution device for distributing reaction fluid to the supply and return lines. A system including an NMR spectrometer () with a flow cell () analyzing a first liquid test sample (P), a distributing device () with a multi-way valve, plural assemblies interconnected via fluid lines through the distributing device, a cannula () taking test samples from a storage vessel (), a sample loop () temporarily storing a further test sample (P), and a pump device () pumping liquid (S) into the system. The valve arrangement a) decouples the sample loop with the temporarily stored further test sample and, simultaneously, b) decouples the flow cell with the first test sample from all fluid lines to the distributing device; and c) connects the cannula to the pump device for a simultaneous purging step or to the flow cell for removing the first test sample into a receiving vessel () or to the sample loop for receiving a subsequent test sample.

Apparatus for quickly changing a sample in an NMR spectrometer with a flow cell

A pipetting device () for removing fluid from a sample vessel () includes a pipetting needle () and an auxiliary cannula () for piercing a septum, designed to guide the pipetting needle axially through the auxiliary cannula. The pipetting device has a guide arm (), on the lower end () of which is arranged an end plate () that is axially displaceable along the guide arm against a resilient resistance. A centering device () inserts into the end plate of the guide arm, and at least three centering fingers () with conical bevels () are constructed on the radial outside of the centering device, distributed around the circumference thereof, and forming a holding-down device for the sample vessel. The disclosed construction makes possible to reliably pierce the septum of a sample vessel and to easily pull the pipetting needle out of the septum again even with thin pipetting needles.

Inlet and outlet transport capillaries () transport the reaction fluid to and from the sample probe (). An adapter head () couples the transport capillaries () to the sample probe () and removably connects the sample probe () to an adapter section (). A method for spectrometric investigation of a plurality of samples dissolved in a solvent comprises: (a) guiding a first solvent with a sample through an SPE cartridge for concentrating the sample in the cartridge; (b) positioning the cartridge in a carrier for a plurality of cartridges; (c) repeating steps (a) and (b) for a desired number of samples; (d) drying the concentrated samples through removal of the residual first solvent, in particular, dehydration or evaporation; (e) dissolving each sample in a second solvent, transferring these dissolved samples from the cartridges to a spectrometer and acquiring a spectrum of each sample. All samples are dried together in step (d) subsequent to steps (b) and (c) while the cartridges with samples are positioned in the carrier. The drying process is thereby considerably accelerated in a straightforward technical manner.

A method for introducing a liquid sample into an NMR spectrometer to measure an NMR spectrum of the liquid sample, wherein the liquid sample is injected into a supply line and wherein further liquids are supplied into the supply line following the liquid sample, which are separated from each other and from the liquid sample by gas bubbles is characterized in that the liquid sample is supplied via an injection inlet to a valve configuration whose output side can be connected to the supply line and the further liquids and gas are supplied to the valve configuration via supply lines, wherein a desired sequence of sample segments, gas bubbles and further liquid segments is generated through temporally matched switching of the valve configuration in the supply line and is supplied to the NMR spectrometer.
