Filtering well-defined feedback from a hard-coupled vibrating transducer

Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and devices for remotely-processing one or more audio signals received at a hearing device. An example method includes a hearing device receiving from a media device a command to send to the media device an audio signal. Responsive to at least the command, the method includes the hearing device sending to the media device the audio signal. The method also includes the hearing device receiving from the media device a remotely-processed signal. Data included in the remotely-processed signals is based on audio data included in the audio signal. Based on at least the remotely-processed signal, the method includes the hearing device generating a stimulation signal and using the stimulation signal to deliver at least one stimulus to a recipient of the hearing device.

Methods, systems, and device for remotely-processing audio signals

A hearing prosthesis system includes a processor arranged to communicate a stimulation signal to a vibration stimulator of a first hearing prosthesis. The processor receives an indication of a measured input signal from a first transducer of a second hearing prosthesis. A processor calculates a feedback associated with the stimulation. The processor may also be further configured to adjust a gain table or an input to a feedback reduction algorithm in response to the calculated feedback. Additionally, the processor of the hearing prosthesis system may also be arranged to communicate a second stimulation signal to a vibration stimulator of the second hearing prosthesis. The processor receives an indication of a measured input signal from the first hearing prosthesis. Further, the processor calculates a second feedback associated with the second stimulation.

Fitting a bilateral hearing prosthesis system

Disclosed herein is a feedback reduction system for used in a hearing prosthesis. The hearing prosthesis will receive an input signal, process the input signal, and create a transformed output. However, the hearing prosthesis may suffer from feedback. Thus, a system to minimize the feedback in a hearing prosthesis may be desirable. One system to minimize the feedback includes down-sample circuitry configured to down-sample a first signal, creating a down-sampled signal. They system also includes a filter circuit. The filter circuit filters both the first signal and the down-sampled signal. The filter will output a filtered signal and a filtered down-sampled signal, respectively. Additionally, the system features up-sample circuitry that up-samples the filtered down-sampled signal. The output of the up-sample circuitry is an up-sampled signal. Further, the system features combining circuitry that creates a feedback-reduced signal based on the up-sampled signal, the filtered signal, and an input signal.

Alternate stimulation strategies for perception of speech

Systems, methods, and devices for adaptively filtering audio signals are disclosed. An example system includes a microphone configured to generate a first audio signal in response to receiving a sound, an output transducer configured to provide an output, and a sound processor configured to: (i) filter a first sample of the audio input signal using an adaptive filter to provide a first filtered audio input signal, with the dynamic range of the adaptive filter being limited by an initial value of at least one parameter filter; (ii) process the first filtered audio signal to provide a output audio signal; and (iii) cause the output transducer to provide an output that is based at least in part on the output audio signal. Adaptive signal modeling may be used to update the adaptive filter, with model and the initial value of at least one parameter filter being based on environmental classifier.

Methods, systems, and devices for adaptively filtering audio signals

Disclosed herein are systems and methods that help to optimize the sound quality produced when a sound processing mode is enabled in an audio device, such as a hearing prosthesis. When the sound processing mode is enabled, a sound processor in the audio device will create a candidate transformed signal based on a default set of parameters associated with the sound processing mode (i.e. a candidate signal processing function). Further, the sound processor will create a reference transformed signal based on the same enabled sound processing mode, but with a varied set of parameters (i.e. a modified signal processing function). The sound processor will then compare the candidate transformed signal to the reference transformed signal to determine which signal has a higher quality. The device then creates an output based on the higher quality signal.

Automatic sound optimizer

A method and system for automatically configuring a medical device that is at least partially implanted in a human recipient and that includes a transducer arranged to stimulate a physiological system of the recipient, such as a middle-ear implant for instance. The energy level of a signal provided to drive the transducer is progressively increased until there is a threshold electrical change indicative of a threshold change in impedance of the transducer. In the context of a middle-ear implant, for instance, the threshold electrical change indicative of the threshold change in impedance of the transducer may be indicative of the acoustic reflex. The energy level of the signal at that point is then used as a basis to set an operational parameter of the medical device, such as a comfort-level of the middle-ear implant for instance.

Method and system for configuration of a medical device that stimulates a human physiological system

Systems and methods are disclosed for data transmission through a recipient's skull bone. In one aspect of the present technology there is provided a bilateral system, comprising a first mechanical stimulator configured to transmit first data through vibrations of a skull of a recipient, and a sensor device configured to receive the first transmitted data.
