A horn antenna for emitting an electromagnetic HPEM microwave pulse along a central axis contains a microwave generator for the pulse having a waveguide along the central axis with a generator opening for the pulse, and a horn structure for shaping the pulse with an input opening and an emission opening for the pulse. The generator contains at least one HPEM source for the pulse. Each HPEM source contains at least two antennas for pulse components, disposed in succession in parallel with the central axis. The pulse is formed as a sum of the pulse components. A method for reconstructing a horn antenna to form the horn antenna with increased power, includes constructively increasing a number of antennas toward a respective HPEM source and orienting remaining antennas in a row relative to the first antenna, increasing the waveguide length, and keeping other dimensions of the horn antenna unchanged.

Horn antenna and method for reconstructing a horn antenna

A radiation source for emitting an electromagnetic HPEM microwave pulse contains a microwave generator for generating the pulse. The generator has a generator opening for outputting the pulse. A horn structure is provided for shaping the pulse. The horn structure has an input opening, which is connected to the generator opening and is intended to radiate in the pulse, and an emission opening for emitting the shaped pulse. The generator contains at least two pulse sources for respectively generating a pulse component. The pulse is the sum of the pulse components. A radiation device contains such a radiation source and a control device for triggering the pulse sources in a temporally synchronized manner for the purpose of respectively emitting a pulse component.

A high-power electromagnetic source for HPEM pulses in a desired radiation direction includes at least three antennas fixed in relation to one another for pulse components, wherein at least two groups of antennas with a respective main direction are present, and a control unit for the activation and phase position of the pulse components for the superimposition for the HPEM pulse, wherein the current radiation direction of said pulse is selectable in an angle range around the main direction. A slot antenna for the fuse of artillery ammunition, is provided through a sandwich structure in which an axially divided resonator ring chamber axially enclosed between upper and lower metallic cover discs profiled to be stable in respect of shape, is provided with a dielectric ring disc which extends with a peripherally extending color radially opposite a central cylindrical reflector wall through an axial slot between the two hollow-cylindrical outside walls of the ring chamber to the outer surface of the fuse casing which is also peripherally slit. In one of the two cover discs the inner edge of the antenna slot which opens into the ring space is defined by a hoop which is inserted into the front side of the outer wall and on which connecting locations which are displaced relative to each other in the peripheral direction are contacted through the dielectric ring disc and the axially oppositely disposed cover disc to a circuit carrier disc, where they are brought together in single-phase manner through a matching network to an antenna line, the second phase of which is connected to the cover disc adjacent thereto.

The invention relates to a method for identifying the particles contained in a gaseous or liquid or carrier medium by measuring scattered light aimed at the medium. The method of the invention identifies particles of very small size and also measures the geometric shape of the particles. This is accomplished by simultaneously operating at least three light sources aimed at the volume to be analyzed, and detecting the scattered light with at least three detectors. The measured values of the detected light are correlated and evaluated to identify the particles.
