A box-type transport container has a box-type outer container with a base, four side walls and at least one lid. The lid is hinged on a side wall. Sheet-type vacuum insulation panels are arranged in the outer container to cover the surface of the side walls. At least one carrying opening, which can be gripped by hand in order to carry the transport box, is provided in each of two opposing, side walls. The material of the side wall is weakened above and to the side of the carrying opening, such that the material can be easily separated from the surrounding material of the side wall and together with the carrying opening can be folded out of the side wall. Alternatively, the vacuum insulation panels of the side wall are secured in their relative positions by at least one peripheral tensioning means.

Box-type transport container

A process is for the pre-conditioning of one or more latent heat storage elements in the case of which the temperature or the narrow temperature range of the phase transition defines a target temperature and the latent heat storage elements are heated up to the target temperature. The latent heat, storage elements are cooled to an initial temperature below the target temperature and this initial temperature is determined. The latent heat storage elements at the initial temperature are introduced into a thermally insulated container and the container is then closed. The interior of the closed container is, or has been, connected to a heating device of which the thermal output which takes effect in the interior of the closed container is known. The initial temperature of the latent heat storage elements, the thermal capacity of the latent heat storage elements located in the container and also the target temperature of the latent heat storage elements are used to calculate the quantity of heat which has to be fed to the interior of the container in order for the latent heat storage elements to reach the target temperature (desired quantity of heat). The heating device is switched on and is operated continuously, or at intervals, until the desired quantity of heat has been fed to the interior of the dosed container.

Method and apparatus for the pre-conditioning of latent heat storage elements

A transport container is made of a trough-like lower part which is open towards the top and an upper part which is arranged on the lower part and closes the open upper side of the lower part. The upper part can be removed or pivoted in order to open the lower part, and the lower part and the upper part preferably consist of a dimensionally stable plastic material. The lower part has a base, longitudinal walls, and transverse walls, and the upper part correspondingly has a cover, longitudinal faces, and transverse faces. The lower part has transversally running flat recessed package-band cutouts at least on the longitudinal walls and preferably on the base as well, and the upper part has transversally running flat recessed package-band cutouts at least on the longitudinal faces and preferably on the lid as well, the recesses being flush with one another and facing one another.
