Heddle frame with vibration damper element

A frame holder to which a heddle frame is coupled by a fastener operating in accordance with the toggle lever principle and pivotably mounted at the upper end of the frame holder by means of a pivot axis. The fastener includes a lever, consisting of two parallel levers, which is pivotable around a first pivot axis whereby an operating lever is pivotably mounted to its other end at a second pivot axis. A bolt which is pivotably arranged on this axis is located in the operating lever which is structured as a hollow rod. Due to elongate holes formed in the hollow rod and through which the axis extends the hollow rod is longitudinally displaceable relative to the bolt. The hollow rod is pressed somewhat towards the outside under action of a pressure spring which rests against a nut screwed onto the end of the bolt and against a inner sleeve of the hollow rod and is installed in a pre-stressed state when a wedge-like designed push button arranged at the front end of the hollow rod upon a pivoting of the fastener into the locking position engages into a detent recess at a formed piece bolted to the side support. In this way the side support and the frame holder equipped with the pivotable fastener are pressed together whereby an over dead center position is arrived at in the end position of the fastener. The apparatus allows with the aid of this snap closure a fast coupling and uncoupling of the heddle frame and frame holder and replaces the customary screw bolt fasteners.

Toggle type clamp for coupling a heddle frame to a frame holder

One coupling element secured to a heddle frame has a pivotally mounted bolt latch for interlocking with another coupling element connected to a drive member when the another element is inserted in an opening of the one element to couple the heddle frame with the drive member. Toothing on the bolt latch and toothing on the another coupling element come into the locking position by a toggle lever pivotally mounted on the one element. The toggle lever has a manual operating lever, and a further lever element hinged thereon and comprising a bolt-shaped part surrounded by a tensioned helical compression spring which is supported between two abutments which are constructed as hinges for connection of the lever to the manual operating lever and to the bolt latch. One abutment is fixed to the bolt, and the other abutment is slidable relative to the bolt to a limited longitudinal extent determined by stops formed by an over-sized bore in the hinge receiving a pin carried by the bolt. In the over dead-center position of the toggle lever, in which the bolt latch is urged into the locking position, a cam-shaped projection on the manual operating lever abuts against an angled end of the L-shaped bolt latch. This mutual support is also present when, as a result of wear of the toothing, the bolt latch allows itself to be pressed slightly further, and the manual operating lever modifies its pivoting end position accordingly under the action of the spring. Thereby self-adjustment is ensured and the occurrence of play between the coupling elements is prevented.

A heald frame comprises two lateral supports which each have a projecting portion (2) which is received in a recess (3) at the end of a frame stave (4). A wedge (9) is mounted in the frame stave (4) within the recess (3) so that it is closer to the heald-carrying rod. A surface (11) of the wedge (9) is inclined towards the end of the frame stave (4) and cooperates with a correspondingly inclined surface (6) at the lower side of the projecting portion (2). The surfaces are pressed together by means of a clamping screw (8) which presses on the opposite surface of the projecting portion (2). The lateral support (1) is pulled against the frame stave (4) as a result of the engagement of the inclined surfaces of the wedge and projecting portion.

Heald frame

A warp stop motion apparatus includes individual disengageable coupling and control elements which have fork-like ends that are capable of surrounding the lateral sides of drive pins extending outwardly from the opposite sides of the end portions of the respective inner movable serrated bars which slidingly extend into a housing part that is oscillated back and forth by an individual electrical motor. Oscillation of the housing part causes the inner serrated bars to oscillate in their longitudinal direction with respect to outer stationary serrated bars in which they are positioned. Separate adjustable spring loaded locking cams act to keep each coupling and control element in position; however, if an inner serrated bar becomes blocked with respect to its movement relative to the associated outer serrated bar due to drop wire falling across the teeth thereof, the associated coupling and control element will rotate, causing a contact spring to close an electrical circuit which activates a switch to stop the weaving machine and the oscillating movement of the housing part.

Mechanical warp stop motion apparatus

A weaving heddle frame has frame staves of lightweight construction with each stave having at least one heddle carrying rod located on one side thereof for taking up heddles with laterally open end loops. The rod has a longitudinal edge facing the frame stave and has an outwardly facing front side. A cover of a hardness which exceeds that of the rod engages the edge and side thereof and is interconnected with the rod for improving upon the resistance thereof against wear caused by the heddles.

Weaving heddle frame

A weaving heddle comprises a strip of material of constant cross-section throughout its entire length, and has open end loops of plastic material molded in place on oposed end sections of the strip. A central section of the strip between the end sections has a centrally located thread eye. The end loops have bearing surfaces for engaging heddle carrying rods of a heddle frame, such surfaces lying along a common axis. This central section of the strip is bent and offset from such axis in the same lateral direction in which the end loops extend from their end sections. Such a bent heddle may be utilized with an unbent heddle so as to form a heddle pair having two thread eyes. This other heddle comprises a straight strip of material of constant cross-section throughout its entire length, with open end loops, corresponding in shape and size to the end loops on the bent heddle, being attached to opposed end sections. A central section of the unbent heddle contains a centrally located thread eye, and the thread eyes of both heddles are offset equal distances from and lie on opposite sides of the aforementioned axis.

Weaving heddle

The heddles of a weaving machine have vibration absorbing material on the end loops thereof which normally contact edges of metal rods mounted on a heddle frame for oscillating movement, the heddles effecting a lifting movement relative to the rods upon oscillation thereof. Metal-to-metal contact between the end loops and the rods is therefore avoided so as to reduce noise during operation of the machine and so as to avoid corrosion of the heddles and the rods.

Heddle for a weaving machine

The lateral support of the heddle frame is provided with a projection which is received in a complementary recess in the end of the frame stave. The upper surface of the projection is provided with a bevelled surface. A screw extends diagonally into the recess from the outer edge of the frame stave adjacent the lateral support with the central axis of the screw disposed perpendicular to the bevelled surface to prevent the withdrawal of the projection from the recess when the end of the screw is disposed in engagement with the bevelled surface. The projection may additionally be provided with a spring biased pivot disposed parallel to the length of the lateral support for automatic engagement in an aperture near the entrance of the recess upon partial withdrawal of the projection from the recess after the screw has been backed off from the bevelled surface to allow the lateral support to be pivoted away from the end of the frame stave to expose the corresponding end of the heddle rod for the addition or removal of heddles. A plunger may be provided in the aperture for ejecting the spring biased pivot to permit full removal of the projection on the lateral support from the recess in the frame stave.

A wear resistant leno heddle is disclosed which has a doup and two lifting heddles. The lifting heddles are formed in one piece by moulding a plastic material. The moulding technique allows the lifting heddles to be formed with varying cross-sectional dimensions according to the required strength of a given area. Reinforcing members may also be embedded within the lifting heddles to further increase its structural strength.

Leno heddles

A frame stave for the head frame of a weaving machine is extruded with a closed, internal T shaped channel 10 in its upper edge. When the location of connecting hooks 5 is determined, a portion of the top edge of the stave is machined away at 6 to enable the hooks to be attached to the stave by screws 8 and sliding inserts 9 within the channel.
