A method for determining malfunction is provided. The method includes receiving a 1D or 2D luminance image of a scene from a time-of-flight based 3D-camera. The luminance image includes one or more pixels representing intensities of background light received by an image sensor of the 3D-camera. The method further includes receiving a 2D optical image of the scene from an optical 2D-camera and comparing the luminance image to the optical image. If the luminance image does not match the optical image, the method additionally includes determining malfunction of one of the 3D-camera and the 2D-camera.

A monitoring component may select a reference area, associated with an environment of an imaging system, based on a three-dimensional (3D) image obtained by the imaging system. The monitoring component may determine a reference image corresponding to the reference area. The reference image may be determined based on design data associated with the environment of the imaging system. The monitoring component may perform, based on the 3D image and the reference image, a functional safety check to determine a functional safety status associated with the imaging system. The monitoring component may selectively provide a signal based on the determined functional safety state.

In accordance with one exemplary embodiment, the circuit arrangement includes at least one output channel configured to be operably coupled to at least one load that is to be driven by the circuit arrangement. In the at least one output channel, the circuit arrangement includes a driver circuit configured to provide a modulated output signal, a current sense circuit configured to sense a load current passing through the load, and a feedback circuit configured to receive the modulated output signal and to determine, based on the modulated output signal, at least one digital value representing an average of the load current.

An automatic transmission for a vehicle drivetrain includes a transmission housing, an input shaft, an output shaft, and a plurality of gears within the transmission housing. The plurality of gears defines multiple mechanical gear ratios between the input shaft and the output shaft. The transmission further includes a plurality of clutches operable to selectively engage the multiple mechanical gear ratios, and a plurality of rotational speed sensors. Each rotational speed sensor is operable to measure rotational speeds relative to the transmission housing for of one of the input shaft, the output shaft, or one of the plurality of gears. The transmission further includes a transmission control system configured to receive signals representing the measured rotational speeds from the plurality of rotational speed sensors and control the plurality of clutches to change between gear ratios based at least in part on the signals representing the measured rotational speeds.

Detecting brushfire in power systems

A fault protection circuit for an alternator is provided for preventing faults such as a prolonged full-field condition in the alternator. The fault protection circuit includes a safety switch that is opened when the alternator output voltage becomes too high, as may occur during a full-field condition caused by an electrical short, or when some other fault is detected within the alternator. The opening of this safety switch disconnects a supply voltage feeding an excitation current control switch. The excitation current control switch normally adjusts an excitation current provided to a rotor in the alternator, in order to regulate a voltage output from the alternator. By providing a safety switch that disconnects the supply voltage for the rotor excitation in the alternator, the alternator output voltage may be prevented from reaching excessive levels that may damage devices in an electrical system and a battery coupled to the alternator.

An electrical circuit for the temperature compensation of at least one measuring resistor structure integrated in a semiconductor body includes at least one further resistor structure which is likewise concomitantly integrated into the semiconductor body and is thermally coupled to the measuring resistor structure. The electrical circuit also includes a circuit arrangement which is electrically connected to the further resistor structure, feeds a current into the further resistor structure, and evaluates a temperature-dependent voltage dropped across the further resistor structure as a result. The temperature-dependent voltage dropped across the further resistor is used for temperature compensation of the measuring resistor structure.
