A radar fill level measurement device for determining a fill level of a medium is provided, including a transmitter configured to transmit a transmission signal towards the medium; a receiver configured to receive a reception signal reflected by the medium; and a controller configured to determine the fill level of the medium based on the reception signal and based on at least one evaluation parameter, the radar fill level measurement device being configured to vary a transmitting power of the transmission signal, the controller being further configured to determine a current transmitting power of the transmission signal, and the controller being further configured to vary, based on the determined current transmitting power, a value of the at least one evaluation parameter and/or at least one measurement signal that correlates with the reception signal, such that the fill level is determined taking into account the transmitting power.

First data for safety-critical program modules is stored in the first memory area. Second data for safety-uncritical program modules is stored in the second memory area. An electronic module for level measurements, pressure measurements or density measurements is disclosed. In the module, a safety-relevant function is transferred into an area that is categorized as safety-uncritical. In order to prevent malfunctions, a diagnostic function is performed in the safety-critical area of the electronic module in order to check the transferred function. This diagnostic function is also checked with respect to its effectiveness during the safety-oriented operation. Suitable measures can be initiated in case an error is detected.

The first processor corresponds to a lower safety standard while the second processor corresponds to a higher safety standard. Functions of the field device that are directed towards safety are carried out in the second processor. Functions that are less critical to safety are carried out in the first processor. Data exchange between the two processors is controlled by way of an operating system.

A method for generating a device description for a measuring apparatus in a target field bus protocol is described. The method comprises the reception of a first device description of the apparatus. The first device description of the apparatus comprises at least one variable. The at least one variable is related to a storage cell of the apparatus. The target field bus protocol is selected from a plurality of field bus protocols, and at least one block is formed from the at least one variable. The at least one block has a maximum block size that corresponds to the smallest maximum block size of at least two field bus protocols of the plurality of field bus protocols. The maximum block size can be transmitted via a field bus with a single request when the respective field bus protocol is used. Subsequently, the at least one block is provided as device description for the apparatus in the target field bus protocol.

Described is a method for automatically initiating an update of a parasitic echo storage device in a fill level meter operating according to a runtime method. In this method individual echoes of echo curves of different ages are allocated, according to their typical echo characteristics, to global echo groups so that subsequently, after examining the behaviour over time of the echoes of the respective global echo curves, it can be judged whether the echoes of the respective global echo curves are useful echoes or parasitic echoes. Starting from this classification, the parasitic echo storage device is then updated with the oldest echoes of the corresponding global echo groups. Apart from the method for updating a parasitic echo storage device described is also an evaluation device for implementing the method as well as to a computer program and a computer program product for carrying out the method.

Described is a method for a coarse differentiation between a liquid and a bulk material of a filling material present in a receptacle using a filling level measuring device that scans a reflected echo signal. The coarse differentiation is made in dependence on the width of the individual echoes of an envelope curve in an echo signal. Alternatively, the coarse differentiation may also be made in dependence on the number of equidistant echoes in an echo signal, or in dependence on the detection of a stirring apparatus. All these alternatives may also be combined with each other. Also described are devices and filling level measuring devices configured for the realization of the methods.

Method and device for the coarse differentiation between a liquid or a bulk material of a filling product present in a receptacle

A method and apparatus for non-contact determination of overfilling of a receptacle filled with a filling product generates an envelope curve from echo signals reflected on a filling product surface. An amplitude of the echo signals is mathematically processed in a predetermined short range of the envelope curve, and is compared to a predetermined reference value (x). When the amplitude exceeds the predetermined reference value (x), a signal representative of overfilling of the receptacle is outputted. Further, described are an evaluation arrangement for realizing the method and a filling level measuring device equipped with such an evaluation arrangement.
