A protective cartridge for a glare protection apparatus, includes an optical glare protection filter which, in particular, has at least one liquid crystal cell, including at least an open-loop and/or closed-loop control unit, which is configured to control and/or regulate a permeability of the optical glare protection filter, at least between at least one bright level and at least one dark level, depending on a captured work state, on an electronic signal of an external signal source and/or on light irradiation. The permeability of the optical glare protection filter at at least one bright level corresponds to a protection level of less than 2.5, preferably of at most 2.4, advantageously of at most 2.25, particularly advantageously of at most 2 and preferably of at most 1.7.

The invention is based on a sun protection device, in particular sunglasses, with at least one optical sun protection filter comprising at least one liquid-crystal cell, and with at least one sensor unit, which is configured for capturing a solar irradiation. It is proposed that at least one sensor cover, which covers a sensor surface of the at least one sensor unit at least partly and which is, at least partly, at least substantially opaque with respect to an irradiation of a visible light spectrum.

An optical glare protection filter for a glare protection device includes at least one liquid-crystal cell with at least one liquid-crystal layer and at least one first electrode layer for orienting crystal molecules of the at least one liquid-crystal layer, and with at least one first contact element for electrically contacting the at least one first electrode layer. The optical glare protection filter may also include at least one second contact element for electrically contacting the at least one first electrode layer, which is substantially spaced apart from the first contact element.

Optical glare protection filter

The electro-optical glare protection filter includes a liquid crystal cell, which is a laterally extended liquid crystal cell defining a volume between two laterally extended sides. The volume containing liquid crystals and having, in a vertical direction perpendicular to lateral directions, a thickness being smaller than an extension of the volume in any lateral direction. The FFS cell includes a first electrode structure and a second electrode structure, which are arranged to change an orientation of the liquid crystals in the volume when a voltage is applied between them. Both the first and the second electrode structure are present at the same laterally extended side of the volume. The first electrode structure may include a plurality of electrically separate electrodes, and the second electrode structure may include a plurality of electrode lines.
