The disclosure provides a system that may receive an identification of a first patient; may receive a first template that includes first multiple locations associated with a face of the first patient and associated with the identification of the first patient; may determine second multiple locations associated with a face of a current patient; may determine a second template of the face of the current patient based at least on the second multiple locations associated with the face of the current patient; may determine if the first template matches the second template; if the first template matches the second template, may provide an indication that the current patient has been correctly identified as the first patient; and if the first template does not match the second template, may provide an indication that the current patient has not been identified.

System and method of utilizing computer-aided identification with medical procedures

A system and method for determining eye surface contour using multifocal keratometry is disclosed. The system includes a light source, a light detector, a processor, a non-transitory machine-readable medium communicatively coupled to the processor, and instructions stored on the non-transitory machine-readable medium. The instructions, when loaded and executed by the processor, cause the processor to project a light, using the light source, onto a plurality of surfaces of an eye; create, using the light detector, an image of a plurality of reflections, each of the plurality of reflections created by reflecting the light off of one of the plurality of surfaces of the eye; determine that the plurality of reflections are in focus in the image; and calculate, based on the determination, a curvature of the plurality of surfaces of the eye based on the image.

Determining eye surface contour using multifocal keratometry

In certain embodiments, a binocular system for entering commands includes a computer and a binocular eyepiece. The computer generates a virtual graphical user interface (GUI) with one or more graphical elements, where each graphical element corresponds to a command. The binocular eyepiece includes of eyepieces. Each eyepiece has an optical path that directs an image of an object towards a corresponding eye of a pair of eyes. The optical path of at least one eyepiece directs the virtual GUI towards the corresponding eye. At least one eyepiece is associated with an eye-tracker that tracks movement of the corresponding eye relative to the virtual GUI to yield a tracked eye. The computer interprets movement of the tracked eye relative to the virtual GUI as an interaction with a selected graphical element, and initiates the command corresponding to the selected graphical element.

Binocular system for entering commands

Implementation of a patient display in ophthalmic procedures, such as diagnostics and surgery, is disclosed herein. In an exemplary aspect, the present disclosure may be directed to an ophthalmic system. The ophthalmic system may include a patient display, a medical device, a memory, and a processor. The memory may be configured to store one or more video files that include information for a patient relating to the medical device. The processor may be configured to execute instructions to perform the following steps: receive input from an operator of a selection of at least one of the one or more video files; and display the selected at least one of the one or more video files on the patient display.

A method and system are described that allow a user to verify a registration proposal during an image-guided ophthalmic surgery. The system configured to perform the method has a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium accessible to the processor containing instructions executable by the processor to perform the method.

Shaking image for registration verification

Both visible and IR cameras are integrated without an increase in an optical stack height of a surgical microscope used for ophthalmic surgery. The IR camera may be used to directly and intraoperatively capture a scanning OCT measurement beam, which uses NIR light that is invisible to the human eye. An IR image from the IR camera taken from the same surgical field as displayed intraoperatively to a user of the surgical microscope may be displayed in an ocular to the user, enabling visualization of a location of an OCT scan along with actual visible images of the surgical field.
