Alcohol compatible, water-soluble copolymer useful as a corrosion inhibitor. The copolymer includes at least one olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, at least one olefinically unsaturated mono- or di-alkyl ester of a di-carboxylic acid monomer, and at least one olefinically unsaturated hydrophilic, non-ionic monomer. The molar ratio of the alkyl ester groups of the mono- or di-alkyl ester of the dicarboxylic acid monomer to the hydrophilic groups of the hydrophilic, non-ionic monomers is from about 0.01:1 to 1000:1, and the molar ratio of the sum of the alkyl ester groups and hydrophilic groups of the hydrophilic, non-ionic monomers to the carboxylic acid groups, is from about 0.001:1 to 100:1. No haze or precipitate occurs in a mixture of the water-soluble copolymer at 4&#xb0; C. for 15 hrs or more as a 20 weight % aqueous copolymer solution in alcohol at a water-soluble copolymer to methanol weight-ratio of not more than 25 to 100.

Modified polysaccharide polymers for use as anti-sealant and dispersant. The polymers are useful in compositions used in aqueous systems. The modified polysaccharides are also useful in detergent formulations, water treatment, dispersants and oilfield applications and as fiberglass binders. Such applications include a modified polysaccharide having up to about 70 mole % carboxyl groups per mole of polysaccharide ASU and up to about 20 mole % aldehyde groups per mole of polysaccharide ASU. The applications can also include a blend of modified polysaccharides and other synthetic polymers.

The present invention relates to a detergent composition having from 3 to 75 percent by weight of at least one surfactant; and from 0.01 to 5 percent by weight percent of a copolymer composed of from about 70 to 100 mole percent of at least one amine-functional monomer, and from about 30 to 0 mole percent of at least one hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, wherein said amine-functional monomer is not a quaternized amine, and wherein said copolymer has been at least partially neutralized. The detergent composition having the copolymers provides color protection and anti-pill properties in laundry applications.

The present invention is directed to an aqueous polymer composition comprising a copolymer and water, the copolymer containing at least one hydrophilic base or acid-neutralizable monomer and at least one hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated monomer. A film formed from the contains essentially no crosslinking. The polymer composition is formed by polymerizing the hydrophilic monomer and hydrophobic monomer in a non-aqueous solvent; forming an aqueous polymer dispersion from the non-aqueous polymer solution, and adding a base or acid to form an aqueous polymer composition.

Hydrophobically modified solution polymers and their use in surface protecting formulations

Barium sulfate and/or calcium carbonate scale inhibitor composition composed of a water-soluble polymer having incorporated phosphate functionality, the polymer being formed from at least one ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, at least one ethylenically unsaturated vinyl sulfonate monomer, or a mixture thereof. The scale inhibitor composition can be used as a means of detecting inhibitor composition in downhole and topside oilfield treatments by means that are faster and more accurate than turbidometric measurement.

Scale control composition for high scaling environments

The present invention relates to biodegradable chemical compositions wherein core substrates, particularly oil well chemicals, are adsorbed onto particulate starch, particularly granular starch, providing a stable, controlled release formulation suitable for use in oil field applications. The invention further relates to the process of preparing obtaining these compositions.
