A system for analysis and steering use of online libraries, contains program source code comprising a plurality of modules, at least one third party library, and a processor and a memory configured to store non-transitory instructions that, when executed by the processor, run a module recontextualization application. The module recontextualization application is configured to decompose a program within the third-party library at boundaries of modules of the program, apply transformations to the decomposed program to insert analysis specific code, and reassemble individual components of the decomposed program to maintain original semantics of the program, while incorporating the transformations that were applied to the decomposed program.

System and method for analyzing and steering use of third-party libraries

A sensor produces the sensor data for a sensor data consumer. A device receives a sensor profile of the sensor indicating a relationship between a sensor parameter operating range and a deviation of the sensor data as a result of scaling one or more sensor parameters. The device receives a tolerance profile of the sensor data consumer indicating a tolerable degree of deviation of the sensor data and scales a parameter of the sensor according to the tolerance profile. The scaling reduces a power dissipation level of the sensor.

Method and apparatus for reducing sensor power dissipation

A communication system receives a binary sequence from a sensor, identifies a power consuming characteristic of the binary sequence, and determines an error component configured to reduce the power consuming characteristic of the binary sequence. The system compares the error component to an error tolerance deviation, and if the error component is below the error tolerance deviation, combines the error component with the binary sequence to produce an output sequence and transmits the output sequence via a serial interface to a receiver configured to receive the output sequence. The error threshold is based in part on an error tolerance characteristic of the receiver.

System, method, and apparatus for reducing power dissipation of sensor data on bit-serial communication interfaces

A system and method that enables a plurality of lay users to collaborate on automating computer tasks is disclosed. In one embodiment, the system automatically performs these tasks, rather than just documenting how to perform them. The system allows a database of solutions to be built for every important computer task. A key characteristic of this system is that users contribute to this database by simply performing the task. The system records the graphical user interface (GUI) actions as the user performs the task. It aggregates GUI traces from multiple users into a canonical sequence of GUI actions parameterized by user-environment that will successfully accomplish the task on a variety of different configurations. A classifier is used to predict which steps are likely to be misinterpreted and requests human intervention to properly perform them. This process can be done iteratively until the translation is believed to be correct.

Translating text to, merging, and optimizing graphical user interface tasks

An automated approach to updating, testing, and distributing virtual machine images is described. Centralized updates allow for a virtual machine image executed locally on thousands of machines to be updated in a single place and the automated testing and distribution signaling provides for smooth rollouts of the updates.

Automatic acquisition and installation of software upgrades for collections of virtual machines

An approach to detection and repair of application level semantic errors in deployed software includes inferring aspects of correct operation of a program. For instance, a suite of examples of operations that are known or assumed to be correct are used to infer correct operation. Further operation of the program can be compared to results found during correct operation and the logic of the program can be augmented to ensure that aspects of further examples of operation of the program are sufficiently similar to the examples in the correct suite. In some examples, the similarity is based on identifying invariants that are satisfied at certain points in the program execution, and augmenting (e.g., 'patching') the logic includes adding tests to confirm that the invariants are satisfied in the new examples. In some examples, the logic invokes an automatic or semi-automatic error handling procedure if the test is not satisfied. Augmenting the logic in this way may prevent malicious parties from exploiting the semantic errors, and may prevent failures in execution of the programs that may have been avoided.

Automatic correction of program logic

Described are techniques used for detection of inconsistent data structures. The state of a data structure is determined as 'inconsistent' in accordance with a defined specification. In the event that a data structure is determined to be inconsistent, the data structure may be repaired. In the event that the repair fails in connection with a read or a write operation, the executing program may optionally take steps to allow the program to continue execution. In connection with a read operation, any value may be returned as a result of the read. In connection with a write operation, the data to be written is discarded such that no write of data is performed and program execution continues. The detection and repairs are determined in accordance with user specifications.
