The invention relates to a driver assistance system () for a vehicle () for detecting light conditions in the vehicle (), having a sensor arrangement () designed to capture sensor data, and having a control device () designed to ascertain if the sight of a driver of the vehicle () is negatively influenced by a source of stray light external to the vehicle.

Method for detecting light conditions in a vehicle

A method includes the steps: a) capturing image of an environment surrounding a vehicle by a camera; b) determining an area of increased brightness in the image based on pixels having a brightness exceeding a predefined threshold; c) estimating position coordinates of a light source in the environment from the area of increased brightness; d) detecting a shadow of the vehicle in the image; and e) determining a type of the light source as a spot light source or a direction light source from the shadow, environment.

Estimation of position coordinates of light sources in images of the surrounding environment

A surround view system for a vehicle includes a detection unit and an evaluation unit. The detection unit is designed to detect data relating to the surroundings. The evaluation unit is designed to identify an object in the detected surroundings data and to determine the 3D shape of this object. The evaluation unit is additionally designed to add the determined 3D shape to a projection surface of the surround view system to produce a modified projection surface. The evaluation unit is designed to project the surroundings data onto the modified projection surface.

A surround view system for a vehicle includes a processor () and cameras (to) that can be arranged on the vehicle so that the cameras (to) can record images of an outside environment of the vehicle. The processor is configured to analyze a position (&#x3b1;) and/or a movement of a movable part () of the vehicle () and to generate a composite image of the outside environment from individual images recorded by the cameras. Furthermore, the processor is configured to calculate an image processing region within the composite image for an adaptive image processing, to determine, based on the analyzed position and/or movement of the movable part (), that a back-projection of the movable part () goes beyond the image processing region, and to modify the image processing region so that the back-projection of the movable part () is within the modified image processing region.
