A steering gear comprises a helical pinion and a helical gear which are mounted in the gear housing and driven by an electric motor, wherein a control unit and a sensor system connected thereto are also disposed in or on the steering gear so as to detect and control the rotor position and/or rotation of the rotor of the electric motor. A section of the shaft of the worm located on the drive side extends in the axial direction and protrudes from the gear housing, wherein the protruding end of the section on the drive side is designed as a rotor shaft of the electric motor, and the control unit and/or the sensor system are disposed on the gear housing. The control unit and the sensor system are preferably disposed on differing sections of the gear housing. This allows a very compact, cost-saving and flexible implementation of the design.

A device for exposing an opening in a housing part of a steering gear in a vehicle steering system has a closure element that closes the opening and a component that, when it comes into contact with a liquid, changes at least one of its properties such that, after the component cooperates with the closure element, the closure element exposes the opening.

A roller bearing assembly for supporting a shaft axially and radially in a rack includes a roller bearing with a carrier, a portion of which is supported at the rack with an element with elastomeric properties being interposed between a support for the rack and the portion of the carrier. In order to indicate a roller bearing, which supports the shaft axially and radially, and makes an inclined position of the shaft possible without causing straining of the system of shaft, roller bearing and rack, the element with elastomeric properties, viewed in the tangential (circumferential) direction of the roller bearing, has at least a first region, the stiffness of which is different from that of the remaining tangential (circumferential) region.

Roller bearing

A power-steering system, e.g., for a motor vehicle, having an electric motor, which transmits a steering-assist force via a belt transmission to a ball-screw transmission for displacing vehicle wheels, includes a cam, via which the ball-screw transmission and/or electric motor is supported in a steering-gear housing. The tension of a belt of the belt transmission is adjustable by rotating the cam in the steering-gear housing. The cam has at least one cutout on the circumference, and/or the steering-gear housing has at least one cutout in its inner wall. A locking element may be inserted into the cutout, in order to fix the cam in position with respect to the steering-gear housing. After being inserted, the locking element is operatively connected to the cam and the steering-gear housing.

Power-steering system

A steering system for a vehicle includes a shaft that is rotatably mounted on a frame in a bearing, the shaft being functionally linked with a steered wheel for adjusting the steering angle thereof, and a structure for axially positioning the shaft in the frame. In order to allow for the shaft of the steering system to be free of backlash in an inexpensive and simple manner, the structure for axially positioning the shaft is configured as a pressure pad which is axially supported on the frame and on the bearing sitting on the shaft without play and which retains the bearing on the frame.

Steering system

A steering system, e.g., a hydraulic rack and pinion steering system for motor vehicles, includes a steering handle for prescribing a steering intention, a pressure medium source and a control valve device for controlling a flow of pressure medium to and from a servomotor in order to deflect vehicle wheels. The control valve device has a closed center, and a pressure medium accumulator is provided for producing and/or assisting a flow of pressure medium to and from the servomotor.

Steering device

An adjustable steering column having two locating couplings which are arranged opposite one another and have, in each case, two coupling parts able to be brought in contact, a pressure element being arranged between the mutually corresponding, medial coupling parts belonging to different couplings, while the two other outer coupling parts are interconnected by a tension element. A sturdy, cost-effective, functionally reliable retention of the couplings is attained, in that; the pressure element is a bending spring which, with mutually opposite ends in an expanded state, pushes the medial coupling parts away from each other and in the direction of the appertaining outer coupling parts, while in a compressed state, the distance between the ends is shortened by bending; and engaging between the ends is an actuating device by which, on the one hand, the bending is able to be produced for releasing the coupling, and on the other hand, the coupling of the locating coupling is able to be produced by reducing the bending.

Adjustable steering column

A steering device for a vehicle includes an electric motor. A drive element pertaining to the electric motor acts directly upon a connecting rod via a gear and a helical gear.

A steering column support includes a bearing block with guide rail and a guide part for the steering column, the guide part having a slide section. A sliding block, sliding in the guide rail, is arranged between the slide section and guide rail. A high efficiency factor, inexpensive production and freedom from play may be ensured by the following features without reworking/adjustment: the sliding block is made of flexible material and is dimensioned such that it compensates for the play between the slide section and the guide rail; the slide section and the guide rail are made of sheet-steel molded parts; the sliding block is surrounded by one of the parts in such a way that an additional securing and retention in the longitudinal direction of the guide rail is dispensable; the slide section and the guide rail intermesh in such a way that a mutual emergency guidance without derailment remains, even if the sliding block is destroyed; and the sliding block is swing-mounted in the slide section.

Adjustable steering column support

An electrically supported power steering system for motor vehicles includes an input shaft, which is mechanically linked to a steering wheel for transmitting a steering torque required for steering of wheels to be steered. An output element is mechanically linked to the wheels to be steered. An electric motor, through which a servo force can be applied directly or indirectly to the output element, is arranged on the power steering system. The input shaft and the output element are connected to one another via a torsion bar. A detection unit for detection of a torque acting on the input shaft and of other steering-specific parameters includes a single pulse generator designed as a magnet ring and at least one magnetoresistive sensor.

Electrically assisted power steering system for motor vehicles

An electrically assisted power steering system for motor vehicles includes an input shaft (,), which is operatively connected to a steering wheel, for transmitting a steering torque required to steer the vehicle wheels that are to be steered. An output member is operatively connected to the wheels to be steered. A servomotor (,), by which an auxiliary force can be exerted on the input shaft (,) or the output member, is disposed in the power steering system. The input shaft (,) and the output member are connected to one another via a torsion bar (,). A detection unit for detecting a steering torque acting on the input shaft (,) includes one magnetic ring (,) each, connected to the input shaft (,) and the output member, and one associated sensor (,) each. Each magnetic ring (,) has the same number of magnetic pole pairs. Each magnetic ring (,) is assigned a sensor (,), structurally connected to the housing, by which both the steering torque and the rotary speed of the input shaft (,) are detected.

Electrically assisted automotive power steering system

An electronically assisted power steering system for motor vehicles contains a primary shaft (,), which is in operative connection with a manual steering wheel for transmitting the steering torque required for steering the steerable wheels of the vehicle. An auxiliary force can be exerted on the primary shaft (,) or the output member by a servo motor (,). A detection unit is used for non-contact detection of the direction and value of a steering angle and/or other movement-dependent values occurring at the primary shaft (,). The detection unit includes at least one pulse transmitter (,) connected with the primary shaft (,) or the output member, and at least one sensor (,). The pulse transmitter (,) is located in the interior of a housing (,), and the sensor (,) outside the housing (,). There is a gap between the pulse transmitter (,) and the sensor (,). The housing (,) is closed in the area located between the pulse transmitter (,) and the sensor (,).
