Embodiments are directed to a method and apparatus for deploying a contextually dependent application on a mobile device. A method includes determining a current location of a mobile device and gathering environmental data from the mobile device. The method also includes inferring from the current location of the mobile device and the gathered environmental data an operating environment of the mobile device and receiving a list of applications, wherein the list of applications includes metadata for each of the applications. The method further includes analyzing the metadata to identify an application that has characteristics that are compatible with the operating environment of the mobile device and installing the identified application on the mobile device.

Method of deploying a contextually dependent application

A method for target identification for a connectable device is carried out at a mobile device. A sensor on a mobile device receives one or more infrared emissions from one or more infrared light sources, each light source being provided by a connectable device in an area. One or more processors in the mobile device analyze the one or more infrared emissions to determine a target connectable device at a target position in the area. The mobile device receives a blink pattern of infrared emissions from the target connectable device. One or more processors in the mobile device decode the blink pattern to determine a reference for the target connectable device to enable wireless connection by the mobile device to the target connectable device for data transfer.

Target identification for sending content from a mobile device

A computer management apparatus, method and computer program operable for displaying a data file on a client computer, wherein the data file comprises a structure file and a first plurality of data elements, the apparatus comprising: a send component operable for sending a first message comprising a request for the structure file; a receive component operable for receiving the structure file; an evaluate component operable for determining a second plurality of data elements, wherein the second plurality of data elements is associated with a visible area; a send component further operable for sending a second message, wherein the second message comprises a request for the second plurality of data elements; a receive component further operable for receiving the second plurality of data elements; and a display component, responsive to receipt of the second plurality of data elements, operable for displaying the second plurality of data elements in the visible area.

Requesting computer data assets

A system and method for constructing a graphical user interface for an application being accessed by a user are provided. The method includes measuring the user's current work rate, deriving a threshold from the user's current work rate, determining the user's current activity within the application, assigning a value to the user's current activity, accessing a model for the application, the model defining links between activities within the application, assigning values to activities linked within the accessed model to the user's current activity, and displaying a control element in a graphical user interface for each activity with a value above the derived threshold.

A method, system and article of manufacture for simulating latency between software applications. There is provided a middleware component, e.g., a delay driver, within a multi-tier software product, the middleware component driver enables simulation of both latency and bandwidth restrictions experienced by the components in the multi-tier software product. The middleware component determines whether I/O request packets should be delayed, selects the number and types of I/O requests packets to be delayed and the amount of time to delay processing of the packets. Through the use of such a middleware component, a user is able to simulate various conditions experienced by the multi-tier software product.
