Method for adapting the adjustment of a clutch in an unconventional drive train of a vehicle

A clutch-actuating device for a clutch in a motor vehicle power train has an actuator motor driving an actuating member and a transfer mechanism which transmits the movement of the actuating member to a clutch release element that is movable against an opposing force of a clutch spring to displace the clutch from a closed position to an open position. The transfer mechanism has a first movement range in which the movement of the actuating member in the opening direction of the clutch does not displace the clutch from its closed position, and a second movement range in which the movement of the actuating member causes a displacement of the clutch. The transfer mechanism has an interval of loose play, which is used up within the first range.

There is provided a method of controlling the operation of a multispeed gearbox which is associated with a start-up clutch, at least one power shift clutch, shift clutches for shifting into various speeds of the gearbox and with a control unit for controlling the actuation of at least one of the clutches. The method comprises the step of controlling the coefficient of friction of the at least one clutch during operation of the gearbox.

Gearbox

A shiftable gear transmission has a plurality of gear pairs with free gears that can be engaged to one of the shafts by means of shift clutches and fixed gears that are permanently locked to one of the shafts. A start-up clutch arranged at the input side of the transmission couples and uncouples the torque flow. At least one of the shift clutches is a power-shift clutch with the ability to transmit a greater amount of torque than the other shift clutches. The start-up clutch and the power-shift clutch are controlled by at least one actuator unit.

Transmission

A motor vehicle transmission, shiftable between different transmission ratios, with an input shaft, an output shaft, and in some cases a countershaft has a plurality of gears arranged to cooperate in gear pairs, a plurality of clutches, and an electro-mechanical energy converter. The electro-mechanical energy converter can be coupled to the transmission through at least one of the clutches in order to perform at least one of the functions of starting the combustion engine of the vehicle, temporarily replacing or assisting the combustion engine in propelling the vehicle, maintaining vehicle traction during gear shifts, generating electrical energy from kinetic energy, and storing said electrical energy in a storage device.

In a power-shift transmission that is coupled to the engine of a vehicle and uses a frictional slip clutch as a power-shift clutch, the gear-shifting process is controlled under a method wherein the torque generated by the engine and the clutch torque transmitted through the frictional slip clutch are varied in such a manner that the temperature rise of the frictional slip clutch is lessened.
