A device for supplying a liquid at risk of freezing to the combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine, in particular an internal combustion engine driving a motor vehicle, is designed to convey the liquid at risk of freezing at least from a section of a supply line, through which the liquid travels from a storage container to a supply unit to the internal combustion engine, back to the storage container. In addition, an aeration valve is provided near to the supply unit and branching off from the supply line, via which the supply line is connected to the environment in the open state. When viewed in the direction of the storage container, downstream of the aeration valve, an air separation/pressure reservoir structural unit connected to the supply line is provided, which is designed to at least proportionally discharge air content out of the supply line and out of the liquid located in the supply line in a section positioned at the top in the mounted state, and to act as a pressure reservoir acting on the liquid in the supply line.

Device for supplying a fluid at risk of freezing to the combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine

A control device is provided for a cooling liquid injection system for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The cooling liquid injection system includes at least two activatable injectors for introducing a cooling liquid into the internal combustion engine, which injectors can be controlled by the control device. The injectors can be supplied with cooling liquid by way of a common rail, and the control device is designed to receive an inclination variable, which characterizes an inclination of the rail, to determine an activation response for the injectors in dependence on the inclination variable, and to activate the injectors using the determined activation response in order to empty or fill the rail.

Activation response of injectors of an internal combustion engine

A drive device for a motor vehicle includes a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine and at least two exhaust gas turbocharger devices. At least one outlet valve is assigned to an exhaust gas turbocharger device of each cylinder of the internal combustion engine in such a manner that the exhaust gas duct assigned to this outlet valve is connected to the turbine wheel of the exhaust gas turbocharger device.

A method for model-based determination of the total fresh air mass flowing into the cylinder combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine during an intake phase is described. The method includes, steps of ascertaining a first partial air mass on the basis of a first load partial model, the first load partial model having a linear behavior, ascertaining a second partial air mass on the basis of a second load partial model, the second load partial model having a nonlinear behavior, and determining the total air mass by adding together the previously ascertained partial air masses.
