The invention is directed to a blow molded article. The article comprises at least three layers wherein layer A comprises polymer, layer B comprises a foam composition comprising high density polyethylene having a quotient of melt strength and apparent viscosity&#x3e;2 cN/k.Pa.s and layer C comprises polymer wherein the layer comprising the foam composition is enclosed between two layers A and C and wherein the melt strength is determined as described in ISO 16790:2005 and the apparent viscosity is determined as described in ISO 11443:2014 and wherein the foam composition is produced with a physically blowing agent.

Polypropylene composition

The invention is directed to HDPE having a quotient of melt strength according to ISO 16790:2005 and apparent viscosity according to ISO 11443:2014 (melt strength/apparent viscosity)&#x3e;2 cN/k&#xb7;Pa&#xb7;s and &#x2264;30 cN/k&#xb7;Pa&#xb7;s. In a preferred embodiment, HDPE with an Ml in the range between &#x2265;0.1 and &#x2264;10 a density in the range between &#x2265;935 and &#x2264;970 kg/ma gel fraction less than 5% and an elasticity (ratio of G'/G&#x2033; at 0.1 rad/sec) between &#x2265;0.6 and &#x2264;10 is obtained by chain branching HDPE with an Ml in the range between &#x2265;10 and &#x2264;100 a density in the range between &#x2265;935 and &#x2264;970 kg/mand an elasticity (ratio of G&#x2032;/G&#x2033; at 0.1 rad/sec) between &#x2265;0.01 and &#x2264;0.2.

High density polyethylene

The invention relates to a process for compacting a polymeric powder in a press, wherein the polymeric powder is supported during compaction by a powder carrier, characterized in that said powder carrier comprises a layer of thickness (T), said layer comprising a material with a static coefficient of friction (COF), and wherein T&#xd7;COF is at least 10 &#x3bc;m. The invention also relates to a compacted polymeric powder obtainable with the above process.

Process for compacting polymeric powders

The invention relates to a preformed sheet comprising at least two mono-layers, each mono-layer containing a fibrous network with fibers having a tensile strength of at least about 1.2 GPa and a tensile modulus of at least 40 GPa and a binder, and a separating film on at least one of its outer surfaces, characterized in that the separating film has an areal density of between 1 and 5 g/m. With this preformed sheet assemblies and articles offering a substantially higher ballistic protection level at a certain weight can be obtained. The invention further relates to an assembly of at least two such sheets and to a flexible ballistic-resistant article comprising said assembly.

The present invention relates to a method of producing a high strength and high modulus elongated product comprising the steps of (a) making a composition comprising a semi-crystalline polymer and carbon nanotubes, (b) extruding said composition into an elongated product, and (c) stretching the product below the melting point of the polymer, wherein in step (a) the composition is a colloidal dispersion of nanotubes in a solution of the polymer. The advantages of the invention include production of elongated products, like fibers with higher tensile properties, especially strength, with a lower concentration of nanotubes than with a known method. The invention also concerns a high strength elongated product containing nanotubes obtainable by the method according to the invention, especially a polyolefin fiber containing nanotubes having a tensile strength of higher than 3.0 GPa. The invention also relates to a process for making composite articles wherein high strength elongated products, preferably fibers, according to the invention are used and to anti-ballistic composites comprising said products.
