A method for treating an articular fracture of a tibia using a tibia plate with an extension arm, including: making an incision to expose the tibia; reducing the articular fracture of the tibia; contouring the tibia plate to fit the tibia; preliminarily fixing the tibia plate to the tibia; placing a screw partially into the tibia through a lateral elongated hole in the tibia plate; applying compression between a plate screw hole in the extension arm and an anterior surface of the tibia; and placing additional plate screws in the tibia through additional screw holes in the tibia plate.

A quick connect tool, a replaceable tool, and methods are disclosed. The replaceable tool includes a shaft having a tool end, a coupling end opposite the tool end, and a longitudinal axis extending between the coupling end and the tool end. The shaft has a tool portion defining the tool end, a coupling portion defining the coupling end, the coupling portion having an outer peripheral surface shaped into a flat portion coextensive with an arcuate portion cooperatively forming a D-shaped cross-section. The flat portion and the arcuate portion extend along the longitudinal axis. The outer peripheral surface defines a peripheral groove extending transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis. The peripheral groove is configured to receive a bearing, and the outer peripheral surface also defines a bearing surface having a shape conforming to a partial spiral extending around the longitudinal axis and located at the coupling end of the shaft.

A sacral fixation implant can include at least one implant segment, a guide wire, and at least one locking member that is configured to fix the implant segment to the guide wire. The implant segment can be configured to be secured to an ilium bone, and the guide wire can be configured to be secured to the sacrum. The implant can include first and second implant segments that are configured to be secured to opposed ilium bones, such that a first locking member is configured to fix the first implant segment to the guide wire, and a second locking member is configured to fix the second implant segment to the guide wire.

A device for treating fractures, comprises a plate receiving structure including on a bone facing side thereof a recess sized and shaped to receive a fixation plate anchored in a desired position on a bone and a mating structure sized and located to engage a corresponding structure of the fixation plate to prevent relative movement between the fixation plate and the device in combination with at least one leg projecting laterally away from the recess, a first one of the at least one legs including a first fixation element receiving hole extending therethrough, the first leg being positioned and oriented so that, when the device is received on a fixation plate anchored to the bone in the desired position, the first fixation element receiving hole is aligned to pass a fixation element inserted therethrough into the bone without passing through a longitudinal axis of the medullary canal.
