This document describes network filtering with private resolvable addresses in a wireless network. A source node in the wireless network hashes an identity resolving key and a value of a random number field to generate an address hash. The source node forms an advertisement address that includes a portion of the address hash and inserts the advertisement address in an advertising extension packet. The source node transmits the advertising extension packet over the wireless network, the address hash being usable by a destination node to filter the advertising extension packet.

Network filtering with private resolvable addresses

This document describes techniques and devices to synchronize communications between devices in a wireless mesh network. Based on the requirements of an end device that sleeps (e.g., is out of communication with the wireless mesh network) for periods of time, the end device indicates to a parent wireless mesh network device that the end device wants to configure operations in a synchronized-reception mode, which causes the parent device to reply with an indication of the clock accuracy of the parent device. The end device uses the clock accuracy of the parent device to determine parameters for synchronized-reception and transmits the parameters to the parent device. The end device activates its receiver based on the parameters to receive data from the parent device.

Synchronized reception in mesh networks

A wireless tracking device operating in at least two modes to reduce power consumption and extend the operable period of the wireless tracking device. In an active mode, the wireless tracking device samples sensor signals at a higher resolution and may also actively communicate with a remote device via wireless connection. In a hibernation mode, most of the components or modules in the wireless tracking device are shut down to reduce power consumption. The wireless tracking device may switch to the active mode when a predetermine event is detected.

Power management in wireless tracking device operating with restricted power source

This document describes low-latency Bluetooth connectivity in a wireless network in which a central node and a peripheral node establish a connection. During a first connection interval, the peripheral node receives a packet from the central node to synchronize communication with the central node, and based on receiving the packet, the peripheral node transmits a first fixed-length packet. If the first fixed-length packet fails to reach the central node, the peripheral node does not receive an acknowledgement, ACK, from the central node during the first connection interval and retransmits the first fixed-length packet during the first connection interval.

Low-latency Bluetooth connectivity

In embodiments of efficient network stack for wireless application protocols, a network stack receives an application-layer message in a first wireless application protocol that includes a source address and a destination address, maps the source address to an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) source address, and maps the destination address to an IPv6 source address. The source node transmits the application-layer message to a destination node in a mesh network using a network stack that implements a second wireless application protocol using the IPv6 source address, and maps the destination address to an IPv6 source address.

Efficient network stack for wireless application protocols

This document describes techniques and devices to reduce energy consumption and network traffic related to polling for buffered data packets (e.g., messages) between devices in a wireless mesh network. Based on the requirements of an end device that sleeps to conserve power, a parent device receives and buffers data packets addressed to the end device until the end device is awake. The end device periodically wakes-up to transmit application data, such as a sensor reading or a status message, to the parent device. By including an indication of pending data at the parent device in an acknowledgement the transmission of by end device, additional data request messages and acknowledgements can be reduced or eliminated to improve the battery life of the end device and reduce network traffic on the mesh network.

Enhanced frame pending

In embodiments of distributed coordination of mesh network configuration updates, pending commissioning datasets are managed and distributed to coordinate configuration changes of parameters that control participation in, and secure communication over, a mesh network. Pending network commissioning datasets are managed across fragmentation of the mesh network into multiple partitions and subsequent merging of the fragments to ensure that the most recent updates to pending commissioning datasets are propagated to mesh network devices and that all mesh network devices will receive pending commissioning datasets before the time that the pending commissioning dataset becomes the active commissioning dataset for the mesh network.

Distributed coordination of mesh network configuration updates

In aspects of packet segmentation and reassembly for mesh networks, a source node in a mesh network segments an access protocol data unit (PDU) into a set of segments that are concatenated with a segment transport header and transmitted over the mesh network in segmented access messages to a destination node. The destination node allocates memory to store the content of the access PDU based on a segment total field in the segment transport header, and stores each received segment at the appropriate offset in the allocated memory, based on a value of a segment offset filed in each segmented access message. The destination node transmits a segment acknowledgement message including a segment acknowledgement field indicating which of the multiple segments have been received by the destination node.

Packet segmentation and reassembly for mesh networks

A system includes a first electronic device that activates a first receiver according to a communication schedule that includes a plurality of frames. Each frame is organized according to a grid including a plurality of cells, wherein the cells are associated with a plurality of communication channels and a plurality of time slots. The system also includes a second electronic device that communicates with the first electronic device by transmitting a wake-up packet during a first time slot on a first communication channel. The first time slot and the first communication channel are located at a known position of a respective grid in each frame of the communication schedule. The first electronic device performs an operation based on the wake-up packet after receiving the wake-up packet. The second electronic device also receives a first acknowledgment packet associated with the wake-up packet.

System and methods for efficiently communicating between low-power devices

In embodiments of virtual addressing for mesh networks, a node in a mesh network publishes packets and/or subscribes to packets using a virtual address that is derived from a unique identifier. The unique identifier has a larger address space than the destination address field of the packet. The unique identifier and an application key are hashed to elide the unique identifier from the destination address that is transmitted in the packet over the mesh network. A node receiving the packet can determine that the address is a virtual address, and disambiguate the destination address to determine that the virtual address corresponds to a unique identifier known to the receiving node.

Virtual addressing for mesh networks

In embodiments of mesh network addressing, a router registers an address for an end device and assigns a child identifier to the end device. The router encodes an endpoint identifier of the end device, and a router identifier of the router into an Endpoint Identifier, which the router incorporates into a Routing Locator (RLOC) for the end device. The router responds to address queries and receives data packets on behalf of the end device. The router stores the data packets for the end device until the router can forward the data packets to the end device.

Mesh network duplicate address detection

An angular rate sensor has a ring, a plurality of sensor-drivers, circuitry, a controller, an energy sensor, and an output signal generator. The sensors-drivers may be capacitors, inductors, or a sensor having a piezoelectric material. The sensor-drivers each have a component that vibrates along with the ring, and the sensor-drivers are arranged in cooperating sets, each cooperating set having two sensor-drivers positioned 180&#xb0; apart. The circuitry can selectively engage some of the cooperating sets as sensors and others of the cooperating sets as drivers. Those sets used as sensors sense motion of the ring. Those sets used as drivers apply forces to the ring. Some of the drivers cause the ring to vibrate at its natural frequency, and some of the drivers seek to inhibit motion of the ring at particular locations. Locations at which drivers seek to inhibit motion are those locations that would be nodes in the absence of angular motion.
