A portable wearable defibrillator device, a distributed defibrillator system, and a computer-implemented method use at least one node that is connected to a wireless network and communicates with sensors, electronic mobile devices, and/or defibrillator devices to determine when a person is having a cardiac or pulmonary event or other event, identify a person who is able to assist the arresting person, and notify the assisting person and/or any other emergency contacts and/or emergency personnel. The electronic components of the wearable defibrillator are arranged in serial to minimize the size of the defibrillator. The control circuit of the wearable defibrillator is configured to provide fast charging for the capacitor, such that the defibrillator is able to be used at any time and frequently. An application for an electronic mobile device is used to interface with an assisting person and other people, e.g., emergency contacts or emergency personnel, associated with the network.

Distributed defibrillator system to enable rapid response for cardiac or pulmonary arrest

An autonomous facility monitoring apparatus and method in a facility can remain on at all times and functions to determine whether an unauthorized person has entered or is attempting to enter the facility and/or whether an environmental danger exists or is predicted. Continuously monitoring physical characteristics of a person and/or location of a person in the facility provides information for automatically detecting and signaling a detrimental health condition, for automatically controlling operation of apparatus of the facility, for operating gaming features, and so on.

A washing and drying unit configured to perform at least one of washing, drying, and sterilizing, or any combination thereof includes at least one sensor configured to determine a dimension and/or shape of the object, a washing and/or sterilizing apparatus and a drying and/or sterilizing apparatus configured to direct at least one apparatus or spray of a washing and/or sterilizing or a drying and/or sterilizing fluid to the object, at least one robot arm connected to at least one of the apparatuses, and a controller operable to orient and move the at least one robot arm. A separate sterilization apparatus may be included and the sterilization may include using electrified water or water that has been exposed to ultraviolet light. The controller orients the at least one robot arm based on the dimension and/or shape determined by the at least one sensor.

A personal dishwasher washes and dries a dish that is manually or mechanically moved through a dishwasher chamber or is manually placed in and manually removed from the chamber. Pressurized water, possibly containing soap, wetting agent, etc., may be added to the wash water. Steam may be used to for cleaning and/or disinfecting. Ultraviolet light may be used for disinfecting. The dishwasher chamber may be enlarged to pass larger dishes, bowls, glassware, etc. for washing. A method of washing dishes, comprising inserting a dish manually into a dishwasher, passing the dish through the dishwasher, and withdrawing the dish. A method of washing a dish, comprising inserting a single dish into a dishwasher, directing fluid under pressure at the dish, directing air flow at the dish, and withdrawing the dish.

An apparatus and method for washing and drying objects includes a rotating washing fluid sprayer having several nozzles to direct washing fluid, e.g., water, at an object being washed in a chamber. A drying fluid is directed at the object in the chamber to dry the object. The drying fluid, e.g., air, is directed in a spiral pattern against the object to urge washing liquid away from the object to dry the object and to push the drying liquid away from edges of the object. The air may be directed at the object simultaneously with the water to increase the energy with which the water impinges on the object and to urge dirt from the object being washed.

A PCMCIA card includes a support, circuit components for providing faxmodem functions with respect to the support, a housing containing at least part of the support, a retractable cord mechanism at least partly contained in the housing for connecting the electronic component with an external device for communications therewith, the retractable cord mechanism including a cord and a storage mechanism for storing at least part of the cord in the housing, and a foldable connector coupled to the cord for storage in the card and for pulling from the card for connecting to the external device. The foldable connector includes a main body portion and a supplemental body portion which releasably and pivotably attach to one another. Alternate embodiments use optical or radio signal coupling from the PCMCIA card and all embodiments do not require a separate telephone connector to a telephone wall jack.

A multi-line modem interface circuit includes a processor and a sensing circuit coupled to the processor. The sensing circuit is operable to identify a status of one or more external lines and communicate the status to the processor. A control circuit is coupled to the processor, and the processor is operable to automatically configure a line connection configuration for either incoming or outgoing voice or data communications in accordance with programmed, user-defined preferences associated with the processor. The interface circuit is operable to automatically monitor a line to determine if it's ringing, determine whether it's allowed and couple the line to the modem for potential answer. The interface circuit line monitoring is non-invasive and keeps the modem from interfering with calls in progress. A method of interfacing multiple external phone lines with one or more internal lines and a modem for incoming or outgoing voice or data transmissions includes the step of monitoring a modem to determine whether the modem is attempting to initiate a transmission via an external line. In addition, the method includes determining whether the external lines are available or allowed for the outgoing transmission and coupling an external line to the modem in response to the determination.
