A system for electronic photography includes a number of photo-capture stations. Each station includes a digital camera and a customer identification device for selectively actuating the digital camera to capture a digital image and recording customer identification with the digital image. The system includes a central controller for collecting and storing the digital images captured by the photo-capture stations and a high bandwidth communications network connecting the photo-capture stations to the central controller. The system also includes an output station connected to the central controller by the high bandwidth communications network. The output station has a customer identification device, a display device responsive to actuation of the customer identification device to display the digital images associated with the customer identification, an output device for transferring the digital images to an output medium, and a customer interface to allow the, customer to select images to be transferred to the output medium.

Electronic photography system

A digital still camera and interactive system and method for video display or reproduction of captured images employing an image processing system on an interactive network for receiving and converting a captured raw, digitized image information set into a display image format for display as a video image, storage, and/or reproduction as a print. A simplified digital camera without signal compensating and processing circuits is employed by a user to capture an image and to transmit the raw image information sets along with a camera identification code through an interactive television network to an interactive control node for processing with color correction and pixel defect correction using the cameras correction and defect maps and other image enhancement, and to convert the processed image data to the specified display image format. The processed video display signal is transmitted back to the user's or other designated receiver's interactive television home interface controller. The camera specific, correction maps and the color and defect correction algorithms may be provided by the camera manufacturer to the network on registration of the camera and accessed or downloaded by the user or the user's designee. Processing of the raw image information sets may be at a control node within the network or in the user's home interface controller.

Interactive camera for network processing of captured images

Apparatus for making an electrical interconnection between first and second, parallel, spaced apart, circuit bearing, substrates or boards and a flex circuit formed on a flexible film. At least one of the substrates or boards has at least one terminal pad formed on the surface thereof, and the flex circuit has at least one terminal pad formed on a surface thereof through an assembly. The apparatus includes resilient, elastomeric spacer means for being positioned between and cushioning the spaced apart, circuit bearing, substrates or boards at least adjacent the terminal pad on the at least one substrate of board and retainer means for compressing the elastomeric spacer means between the first and second, parallel, spaced apart, circuit bearing, substrates or boards and against the flexible circuit. The flexible circuit terminal pad overlies and is in contact with the terminal pad on the at least one printed circuit bearing substrate or board.

Method and apparatus for assembling a flexible circuit to an LCD module

A method and apparatus for enclosing an optically active integrated circuit die mounted on a region of a printed circuit substrate within either a unitary optical plastic lens element and enclosure or a discrete lens element and enclosure formed with mechanical standoff tabs and positioning pins for attaching and securing the unitary or discrete enclosure to the circuit substrate. The mechanical tabs of the enclosure have catches that snap in place into receiving apertures in the substrate so as to position the molded plastic lens over the optically active integrated circuit device at a predetermined distance providing the desired focal length. The molded plastic lens of the optical plastic enclosure protects the optically active integrated circuit from damage and images light thereon or therefrom. In a preferred embodiment, the side walls of the plastic enclosure contact the surface of the substrate and enclose the die and the region that the die is mounted on. The remaining volume enclosed within the molded plastic enclosure and lens element may be filled with a transparent epoxy material to provide a unitary, sealed enclosure with the optically active integrated circuit die with the region on the substrate. Preferably, the optically active device is a photosensitive micro-electronic circuit element, e.g. a photosensor or a charge coupled device (CCD).

Semiconductor insulation for optical devices

A recycleable element includes a means for visually indicating the number of times the element has been recycled whereby the indicating means is updateable each time the element is recycled, up to a maximum recycleable life of the element. Such a recycleable element is particularly useful in a recycleable film pack single-use camera having a built-in electronic flash unit.
