A plant, such as a hydrocarbon plant, is provided, which has a syngas stage for syngas generation and a synthesis stage where the syngas is synthesized to produce syngas derived product, such as hydrocarbon product. The plant makes effective use of various streams; in particular COand H. The plant does not comprise an external feed of hydrocarbons. A method for producing a product stream, such as a hydrocarbon product stream is also provided.

Chemical synthesis plant

The invention relates to a process for reforming a hydrocarbon feed stream comprising a hydrocarbon gas and steam, said process comprising the steps of: a) in a synthesis gas generation reactor carrying out a reforming reaction of the hydrocarbon feed stream over a first catalyst, thereby forming a first synthesis gas; b) providing a heated COrich stream to a post converter comprising a second catalyst; and c) in said post converter carrying out a methanation, steam reforming and reverse water gas shift reactions of the first synthesis gas and the heated COrich stream to produce a product synthesis gas, wherein said second catalyst is heated electrically by means of an electrical power source. The invention moreover relates to a system arranged to carry out the process of the invention.

The invention relates to a catalytic reactor comprising a combustion reaction chamber with catalytic reactor tubes filled with catalyst elements and metal radiation surfaces arranged in the chamber to improve heat transfer.

Catalytic reactor comprising metal radiation surfaces

A catalytic system is provided which comprises a tubular reactor and at least one catalyst particle located within the tubular reactor. The catalyst particles have a particular geometric form which promotes heat transfer with the tubular reactor. Certain specific catalyst particles are also provided.

A reactor system for carrying out an endothermic catalytic chemical reaction in a given temperature range upon bringing a reactant into contact with a catalyst material. The reactor system includes a reactor unit arranged to accommodate catalyst material including one or more ferromagnetic macroscopic supports susceptible for induction heating where the one or more ferromagnetic macroscopic supports are ferromagnetic at temperatures up to an upper limit of the given temperature range. The one or more ferromagnetic macroscopic supports are coated with an oxide, and the oxide is impregnated with catalytically active particles. The reactor system moreover includes an induction coil arranged to be powered by a power source supplying alternating current and being positioned so as to generate an alternating magnetic field within the reactor unit upon energization by the power source, whereby the catalyst material is heated to a temperature within the temperature range by the alternating magnetic field.

Induction heating of endothermic reactions

The invention relates to a chemical reactor and reformer tubes for reforming a first feed stream comprising a hydrocarbon gas and steam. The chemical reactor comprises a shell with a heat source and one or more reformer tubes. The reformer tube is arranged to house catalyst material and is arranged to being heated by the heat source. The reformer tube comprises a first inlet for feeding said first feed stream into a first reforming reaction zone of the reformer tube, and a feed conduct arranged to allow a second feed stream into a second reforming reaction zone of the reformer tube. The second reforming reaction zone is positioned downstream of the first reforming reaction zone. The feed conduct is configured so that the second feed stream is only in contact with catalyst material in the second reforming reaction zone. The invention also relates to a process of producing CO rich synthesis gas at low S/C conditions.

CO rich synthesis gas production

A tube heat exchange reactor for carrying out an endothermic catalytic reaction. The tube heat exchange reactor includes: an outer tube with a first and a second end, where the first end is an inlet end and where the second end is a closed end, an inner tube coaxially arranged within the outer tube and spaced apart from the outer tube, where at least a part of the inner tube holds a bed of catalyst material susceptible for induction heating and where the inner tube has an inlet end and an outlet end, an induction coil placed within the annular space confined between the outer and the inner tube, and a power source arranged to supply alternating current to the induction coil in order to generate an alternating magnetic field within at least a part of the inner tube.

Induction heated reactor

In a process for producing hydrogen or syngas by methanol cracking, whereby methanol is catalytically decomposed into hydrogen and carbon monoxide in an endothermal reaction, said reaction takes place in a reactor with direct inductive heating in the reaction zone. The heating is obtained by passing an alternating current through a metallic coil located inside the reactor or by using induction heated catalyzed hardware in the shape of a ferromagnetic structure, which is coated with an oxide impregnated with the catalytically active phase.

Process for producing hydrogen or syngas by methanol cracking

A reformer device including a reaction chamber for carrying out a reaction having a hydrocarbon stream as a reactant gas and with hydrogen rich synthesis gas as a reaction product. The membrane is provided within the reaction chamber. The reformer device further includes a heating reactor for heating the reaction chamber, where the membrane is a semi-permeable membrane arranged to allow COpass through it; the reaction chamber includes a catalyst material arranged to catalyze a steam methane reforming reaction and to catalyze a water gas shift reaction; and the reformer device is arranged to carry out the steam methane reforming reaction at a pressure between about 15 and about 50 barg within the reaction chamber. A method for carrying out a reaction having a hydrocarbon stream as a reactant gas and with hydrogen rich synthesis gas as reaction product, in a reformer device.

Reformer device comprising a COmembrane

An egg-shell catalyst consisting of an active compound in the form of an alloy of nickel and one of iridium, rhodium and ruthenium, on a support comprising alumina, zirconia, magnesia, titania or combinations thereof. The catalyst is used in a process for the steam reforming of hydrocarbons.

Reforming catalyst

Process for the steam reforming of hydrocarbons comprising contacting a feed gas with a catalyst consisting of an active compound in the form of an alloy of nickel and one of iridium, rhodium and ruthenium, on a support comprising alumina, zirconia, magnesia, titania, or combinations thereof.
