A method and apparatus for modifying a dynamic lighting effect, where that effect is considered or deemed unfavourable, by obtaining information of the dynamic lighting effect for at least part of a an area illuminated by said effect; determining, based on the obtained information, a modifying lighting pattern to modify the effect of said dynamic lighting, and controlling one or more luminaires to output the modifying lighting pattern selectively to a target portion of the illuminated area.

Illumination control

A method and apparatus for controlling illumination of a monitored area, by detecting sound () originating from an area to be monitored, and analysing the sound to recognise one or more target sounds () corresponding to unwanted behaviours such as offensive shouting, chanting or singing. The location of target sounds is determined () based on the received sound, and the determined location is exposed to adverse lighting (), such as over or under exposure, or flickering or flashing effects, which are irritating or uncomfortable.

Lighting control

Some embodiments are directed to a microphone calibration system () for multiple microphones (), said microphones being arranged in an area in which moving objects pass the microphones. The system computes a first and second sound profile from first and second sound measurements, said first and second sound profiles being indicative of a calibration of the first and second microphones, and determines a need to calibrate the first or second microphone.

A crowd entertainment system () is disclosed comprising a set of devices () for generating an ambience observable from a crowd location (), said ambience comprising at least one of a visual component and an audible component; and a controller () adapted to control said set of devices, the controller arranged to obtain data pertaining to a crowd behaviour parameter () indicative of the behaviour of a crowd in said crowd location from at least one crowd behaviour observation device and obtain the crowd behaviour parameter from said data; obtain a crowd composition parameter () indicative of a composition of said crowd from a crowd composition parameter source; select an ambience definition from a plurality of ambience definitions as a function of the obtained crowd behaviour parameter and crowd composition parameter, each of said ambience definitions being labelled with at least one particular crowd composition parameter; and control at least a subset of said set of devices in accordance with the selected ambience definition. An arena lighting system comprising such a crowd entertainment system, a computer-implemented method () of selecting an ambience for generation by a crowd entertainment system and a computer program product for implementing such a method are also disclosed.

Crowd entertainment

A method of controlling at least one light source to discourage unwanted behavior at a spectator event comprising a plurality of spectator areas, the method comprising: detecting, based on sensor input received from a sensor at the spectator event, at least one spectator exhibiting unwanted behavior within a first one of the spectator areas; determining a location of the first spectator area; identifying a second one of the spectator areas as being a target of the unwanted behavior and determining a location of the second spectator area; and controlling at least one light source based on the determined locations to increase an amount of glare along at least one line of sight between the first and second spectator areas and thereby discourage the spectator from looking towards the second spectator area to discourage the unwanted behavior.

A crowd management system for influencing a crowd of people to distribute itself between a first region and a second region, comprising: at least one presence sensor configured to sense occupancy information from the first region and the second region; and a controller configured to receive said occupancy information from the at least one presence sensor; and at least one environmental control element configured to control an environmental effect in both the first region and second region; wherein said controller is configured to compare the occupancy information relating to the first region and the second region and based thereon to control the environmental effect in both the first region and the second region via the at least one environmental control element, such that the environmental effect in one of the first region or the second region is relatively more attractive or repellent than the other, in order to thereby influence at least a portion of the crowd to distribute or redistribute itself between the first region and the second region.

Crowd management system

The invention relates to a method enabling commissioning of a system comprising a plurality of controllable devices capable of transmitting their identification signals. The method includes receiving identification signals from the devices, displaying a map of a structure and icons corresponding to the devices from which the identification signals have been received, detecting a first user input indicating a selection by a user of a first icon from the displayed icons, the first icon corresponding to a first device, and, in response to the first user input, providing a command to the first device to issue a cue identifying the first device to the user. The method further includes, subsequent to the first device issuing the cue, detecting a second user input indicating a selection by the user of a location on the map for the first icon, and displaying the first icon on the map at the selected location.
