The invention relates to a light sign () for displaying an instruction and/or guidance for ground airplane traffic at an airport, comprising a casing () with a transparent display panel () for representing an instruction and/or guidance symbol (Z), and a light source arranged inside the casing () with at least one luminescent diode () for illuminating the display panel (). A diffusion panel () is made for scattering and/or back-scattering incident light, wherein the light source is arranged between the display panel and the diffusion panel. The at least one luminescent diode () is aligned on the diffusion panel () so that the display panel () is not illuminated directly, but indirectly by back-scattering of the light emitted from the at least one luminescent diode by the diffusion panel ().

The invention relates to a lighting unit for lighting airfields on an airport, in particular for delivering signals to an airplane. It comprises a light source, which has at least one light-emitting diode for generating light to be emitted, electrical components for supplying and actuating the light source, optical components for influencing the light generated by the light source, and an outer housing for receiving the light source and the electrical and optical components, which has a light exit opening through which light influenced by the optical components exits. According to the invention, the light source is arranged with the electrical and optical components in a cassette module closed in a gas-tight manner. Said module is integrated in the outer housing, wherein the outer housing is likewise closed in a gas-tight manner, so that the components disposed in the cassette module have double sealing protection.

Lighting unit for lighting airfields

The invention relates to an article comprising a length of an optical fiber and a package, the optical fiber comprising a fiber Bragg grating dispersed over a FBG-section of the length of the optical fiber, the package comprising a carrier with a carrier surface for supporting at least a supported part of the optical fiber including the FBG-section. The invention further relates to an apparatus comprising the article, to its use and to a method of manufacturing such an article. The object of the present invention is to seek to provide an optimized (e.g. elongate) package having a relatively low sensitivity to mechanical vibrations from the environment. This is achieved by providing that the carrier surface for supporting the optical fiber comprising a fiber Bragg grating is convex in a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber during use of the article. This has the advantage of providing a lowering of the influence of vibrations from acoustic sources (or other sources of mechanical vibration) in the environment compared to prior art solutions. In an embodiment, the carrier comprises two different materials, each adapted to provide a specific tuning of the wavelength selected by the fiber Bragg grating. The invention may e.g. be used for the fiber lasers for sensing, (low frequency/low phase noise fiber lasers) in wavelength tuneable fiber lasers, and in packaging of fiber lasers in general.
