A vehicle comprises a first lighting assembly disposed to the left of a longitudinal axis of the vehicle and comprising a first array of independently operable light emitting diodes and a first projection lens arranged to form a front left light beam for the vehicle from light output from the first array of light emitting diodes, a second lighting assembly disposed to the right of the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and comprising a second array of independently operable light emitting diodes and a second projection lens arranged to form a front right light beam for the vehicle from the second array of light emitting diodes, and a controller configured to control activation of the light emitting diodes in the first array of light emitting diodes to adjust an angle between the front left light beam and the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and to control activation of the light emitting diodes in the second array of light emitting diodes to adjust an angle between the front right light beam and the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.

Lighting assembly for vehicle

The invention describes a lighting assembly for use in a lighting arrangement of a vehicle. The lighting assembly includes a projection lens and a light source array, wherein a center of the light source array and an optical axis of the projection lens have a lateral offset, and light sources of the light source array are individually controllable to adjust a swivel angle of a light beam generated by that lighting assembly. The invention further describes a controller for controlling the light sources of such a lighting assembly. The invention also describes a lighting arrangement for a vehicle, comprising such a lighting assembly and such a controller for controlling the light sources of the lighting assembly to adjust the swivel angle of the light beam. The invention also describes a method of generating a front beam for a vehicle comprising such a lighting assembly.

A lighting system is disclosed which includes a light source unit and a projection system for producing a desired light distribution pattern in a target area, especially for use in an automotive head lighting, studio and theater lighting, indoor spots with adjustable beam width or direction, architectural dynamic lighting, disco lighting and other. The lighting system is especially suitable for a light source unit having one or more Lambertian light sources, especially a plurality of LEDs. For generating a desired light distribution pattern in the target area, the light source unit may include a plurality of collimators that are configured especially such that the curved focal plane (P) of the projection system intersects with or tangentially touches the exit apertures of the collimators.

A light emitting device, comprising a flexible substrate () with a single, structured conductive layer (), and a plurality of LEDs () arranged on said substrate (), said structured conductive layer () forming electrodes for driving said LEDs (). The structured conductive layer comprises a plurality of heat dissipating pads (), each having an area significantly larger than the area of each LED (), and each LED () is thermally connected to at least one of said pads (), and electrically connected in series between two pads (). Through this design, each LED is thermally connected to a relatively large heat dissipating area, and the thermal energy built up in the LED will be distributed over this area, and then dissipated upwards and downwards from this area. As the addressing can be handled by a single conducting layer, the flexibility of the substrate is improved compared to multilayer substrates. By connecting each LED in series between two pads, a very large portion of the conducting layer can be used for the pads, and very little area needs to be occupied by conducting tracks, which otherwise may be a problem with single layer designs.

A lighting device is provided for projecting a pixelated lighting pattern to be viewed onto a surface facing said device is provided. The device comprises a plurality of independently controllable lighting units (), each lighting unit comprising at least one light-emitting diode (), and a controller () for controlling the emission of light from said lighting units. A device according to the present invention allows ambient illumination of a surface and projection of images and patterns.
