The present invention faces the issues of inactivating a particular control rule parameter, only for a given control rule and whilst maintaining this particular control rule parameter for other control rules and provides for methods and apparatuses whereby, upon determining by a control server that a particular parameter is no longer applicable for a first control rule, a modified control rule is determined that includes a removal indicator indicating the particular parameter to be removed for the first control rule previously installed and not for other control rules. The modified control rule is submitted to an enforcing device which removes the particular parameter only for the first control rule previously installed and not for others.

Selective inactivation of control rules parameters

The present invention faces the issue of usage monitoring and control of network resources, between a control server and any reporting device. The present invention provides for methods and apparatuses, which significantly reduce the signalling load between the control server and the reporting device, by allowing the control server to submit towards any reporting device, for each identified monitoring key, the identified monitoring key, its monitoring quota and one or more related monitoring keys to be reported together with the identified monitoring key; to receive at the control server, from any reporting device, usage information for at least one monitoring key, whose monitoring quota has been exhausted, and usage information for the related monitoring keys previously submitted with the at least one monitoring key; and to update at the control server, for each service associated with any monitoring key for which usage information has been received, a corresponding service quota by using the received usage information.

Methods and apparatuses for control of usage of one or more services for a user

More than one TDF session for a user in a PCC architecture are coordinated. There are provided PCRF server, PCEF devices and TDF devices, and method of coordinating a PCEF session and the more than one TDF session. The method includes: establishing or modifying at a PCRF server a PCEF session for an IP-CAN session; selecting at the PCRF server more than one TDF device; determining at the PCRF server an order in which each selected TDF device is to be involved, and access information required by each selected TDF device; initiating a TDF session, providing applicable ADC rules and routing information indicating a next TDF device to be involved, from the PCRF server towards each selected TDF device; and submitting from the PCRF server to the PCEF device PCC rules for the IP-CAN session along with routing information indicating a first TDF device to be involved.
