A composition and method of inhibiting corrosion and white rust on metal components in a water system. The composition preferably comprises an amino-acid based polymer (most preferably a polyaspartic acid or a salt thereof), hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid, and a second phosphonic acid (preferably a phosphonocarboxylic acid), and does not require the use of regulated metals. The composition is effective even in the presence of biocides. A preferred method of inhibiting white rust comprises adding an amino-acid based polymer or hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid or both to the water system. A preferred method of inhibiting corrosion or white rust comprises adding an amino-acid based polymer, hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid, and a phosphonocarboxylic acid to the water system. Preferably the active concentrations are at least 3 ppm each of the amino-acid based polymer and hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid when added to a volume of water in the water system.

Composition and method for inhibiting corrosion

A system and method of controlling the treatment of water systems comprises multiple feeders for separately feeding treatment products, in the form of concentrated, non-hazardous, liquids with a single active ingredient, to a water system to treat various issues, such as corrosion and biofilms. A sensor verifies delivery of the treatment product to the water system. A controller controls activation of each feeder to control a feed rate according to programmed functions. The controller receives signals from sensors, which can be used as inputs in calculating feed rates or feeder activation times according to the programed functions and can alter treatment product feed rates based on real time data regarding water system chemistry or flow rates. The controller can send and receive data, signals, alerts, alarms or changes in programming to or from remote users, remote computers, or a water system controller.

System and method for automated control, feed, delivery verification, and inventory management of corrosion and scale treatment products for water systems

Composition and method for inhibiting corrosion and scale

Multilayered structures formed from two or more polymeric layers are fabricated to obtain a single structure preferably having advantages of each of the separate layers. Polyolefin-based substrates can provide a layer with a good balance of stiffness and impact resistance, excellent processability, and relatively lower cost. Tie layers, preferably physically positioned adjacent a polyolefin-based substrate layer, facilitates adhering additional layer(s) together with the polyolefin-based substrate. Suitable tie layers generally include a multicomponent blend of at least one vinyl cyanide-containing component and at least one styrenic block copolymer component. Preferably, the additional layers include at least one acrylate-based cap layer, which can have a glossy, scratch resistance outer layer with excellent optical characteristics.

Multilayered polymeric structure and methods

The invention includes a process for preparing an improved melt-strength polyolefin blend by incorporating a polyolefin/clay nanocomposite product. The nanocomposite-modified polyolefin blend is used to form articles through processing operations that involve stretching and/or drawing, such as thermoforming, melt spinning, blow molding and foaming. The addition of the nanocomposite product to the polyolefin blend improves the sag resistance of the polyolefin and broadens the processing window of the operation.

High melt-strength polyolefin composites and methods for making and using same

A polyolefin blend is presented having a propylene containing polymer as a base component, a portion of which is functionalized with a hydrophilic moiety; a toughening component of polymer selected from the group consisting of(A) a copolymer of ethylene and an alpha olefin and (B) a terpolymer of ethylene, an alpha olefin and a diene; an interfacial modifier in the form of an elastomeric block copolymer; and a filler. The functionalized portion of the propylene containing polymer is present in an amount sufficient to ensure dispersion of the filler within the semi-cystalline portion of the blend; the toughening agent is present in an amount sufficient to enhance low temperature impact properties of the blend but less than about 40 weight percent, the interfacial modifier is present in an amount sufficient to assist in adhesion between the polymer components of the blend but less than about 30 weight percent, and the filler is present in an amount sufficient to enhance blend strength and hardness but less than about 40 weight percent. Also included is an article of manufacture containing the polyolefin blend described and a method for making such an article of manufacture by molding the described polyolefin lend into the configuration and shape of the article of manufacture, and the use of such articles as automobile components.
