Disclosed herein is a print head arrangement, a printing device and a method of operating a printing device. The print head arrangement comprises a main print head having a plurality of printing nozzles for ejecting a printing fluid and an auxiliary print head having a plurality of pre-treatment nozzles for ejecting a pre-treatment fluid. The print head arrangement further comprises a controller that is to obtain a print medium parameter and to select a subset of the plurality of pre-treatment nozzles for application of the pre-treatment fluid based on the print medium parameter. The print medium parameter characterizes a thermal inertia of the print medium.

Pre-treatments for ink-jet printing

There is provided a method for rendering an image according to selected image quality attributes. Two or more image quality attributes are selected from a plurality of attributes of the image. A set of pigments for an area of the image and a density for each pixel of the area are determined. A quantity of pretreatment for deposition onto a print target is determined, where the pretreatment quantity is dependent on the pigments, the density, and the selected image quality attributes.

Image rendering

A method of digital printing is disclosed in which a digital image to be printed has at least one region having pixels comprising superpositioned layers of a first ink and a second ink. The method includes producing at least one sample print and calibrating misalignment of the superpositioned layers at a plurality of calibration locations on the sample print. The resultant misalignment data is provided to a morphing program to pre-deform the digital image to provide a modified digital image which compensates for misalignment during printing. The image is then printed using the modified digital image. An apparatus and a machinereadable storage medium comprising instructions executable by a processor are also disclosed.

In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a media lifting device is described. The media lifting device includes a media lifting strip to sit on a media transport belt of a printing system. The media lifting strip is to raise a lateral edge of incoming media. That lateral edge of incoming media is a portion of the incoming media that is parallel to a media travel direction. The media lifting device also includes a clamp to affix the media lifting strip to the printing system.

A method is described in which a sequence of print orders is determined. The sequence is to be associated to print elements to be generated by ejecting printing material from nozzles. The method comprises controlling the generation of the print elements by ejecting printing material from the nozzles according to the determined sequence.

Determining print orders

Method and devices for dynamically preventing printing errors caused by a media deformation are disclosed. In one example, a pen to print media space (PPS) distance is measured. A media deformation is identified in response to measuring the PPS distance. A corrective function is identified in response to identifying the media deformation. The corrective function identified is then performed. The proposed method provides for consistent quality across a print.

Preventing printing errors due to print media deformations

In an example, a print system identifies a number of drops to eject corresponding to an expected variation in print fluid based on media temperature and generate print instructions to operate a fluid eject device to that effect. In another example, a print system includes a temperature engine to identify a temperature, a compensator engine to identify a number of drops of print fluid based on the media temperature, and a control engine to generate print instructions to operate a fluid ejection device to place the number of drops of print fluid on media.
