Methods and systems for performing T1 mapping. T1 samples are obtained from an acquisition including one or more inversion groupings. The acquisition may be designed to result in incomplete tissue magnetization recovery between inversion groupings. The acquisition may be designed for the use of non-uniform, non-180&#xb0; preparatory pulses. The method may also include the combined use of data from different inversion groupings. A model is used in which fit parameters are variable dependent on the inversion grouping.

Method for T1 mapping with incomplete tissue magnetization recovery

A method, system and user interface for synthetic image generation for magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is described. A plurality of MR imaging data sets is received, each data set being acquired at a different value for a MR acquisition parameter. A response value for a particular property of tissues is determined, based on a calculated fit of each pixel to a property response model. A synthetic image is generated for a selected value of the MR acquisition parameter, based on the determined response value. An option is provided to dynamically change the selected value of the MR acquisition parameter and the synthetic image is re-generated for the changed value. An option may be provided to dynamically change the value. Another option may be provided to calculate a reliability measure for the synthetic image.

Method of synthetic image generation for magnetic resonance imaging

A medical robot for use inside an MRI includes a horizontal motion assembly, a vertical motion assembly and a controller. The horizontal motion assembly and the vertical assembly each includes a motion joint, an ultrasonic motor operably connected to the motion joint and an encoder operably connected to the ultrasonic motor. The motor and encoder are positioned proximate to the joint of the respective horizontal motion assembly and vertical motion assembly. Each motor has a cross section positioned in one of the axial and sagittal plane of the MRI. A medical instrument assembly is operably connectable to one of the moving joint of the vertical motion assembly. The controller is operably connected to the horizontal motion joint and the vertical motion joint and it is adapted to be powered off when the magnetic resonance imager is being used to collect images.

Various embodiments are described herein for acquiring MRI image data from an object. Various waveforms are provided for producing magnetic field gradients and an RF excitation field such that NMR response signals are sampled according to a spiral-PR k-space trajectory having a plurality of angular sectors. A given angular sector can be defined by a sampling function having a period that defines radial sampling density and an envelope function that defines the angular extent of the angular sector. Various sampling and envelope functions can be used and a variety of values for the parameters for these functions can be used.

System and method for improved data acquisition for medical imaging

An MRI system and method for acquiring motion-compensated MR image data of an object. The MRI system includes an MRI device for generating a uniform magnetic field through the object, magnetic field gradients for imaging a portion of the object and an RF excitation field for evoking NMR response signals from the object; a computer for controlling the operation of the MRI system; a motion compensation module for generating a plurality of navigator waveforms for evoking a corresponding plurality of navigator echoes from the portion of the object while the object is being imaged, and processing the plurality of navigator echoes by determining a subset of similar navigator echoes and removing rigid-body translation from the NMR response signals associated with the subset of similar navigator echoes; and, interface circuitry for generating the magnetic gradient, RF and navigator waveforms and sampling the NMR response signals and the plurality of navigator echoes.

Motion compensation for magnetic resonance imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses direct, continuous, unaliased, real-time imaging for motion compensation. Unaliased, real-time two dimensional (2D) images are acquired continuously of the anatomy of interest. The images are compared to at least one template to using a correlation coefficient technique to select images corresponding to minimal motion and distortion. A spatial grid of templates can be used to cover an anatomy of interest. Multiple temporal templates can be used to create a time series of magnetic resonance (MR) images. The selected images are used to provide a high-resolution image, preferably a three dimensional (3D) image.

Magnetic resonance imaging using direct, continuous real-time imaging for motion compensation

A system and method for adaptive averaging of velocity spectra using variable density trajectories, comprising: acquiring at least one series of velocity spectra using interleaved variable density trajectories and sampling low k data more often or more densely than high k data, the series of velocity spectra further comprising at least one spectrum; identifying a series of velocity spectra that comprises at least one velocity spectrum as a template, aligning at least one of the acquired series of velocity spectra with the template using low k data; and averaging the aligned spectra, the averaging further comprising averaging the low k data of the aligned spectra, and combining the averaged low k data with the high k data of the aligned spectra, wherein the combination produces enhanced spectra.

System and method for generating spectra

Realtime magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses cardiac and respiratory monitoring tools to avoid or minimize motion-induced image artifacts. A series of initial MR images are associated with the physiological data from the cardiac, respiratory, or other monitoring tools. The tools provide physiological data in conjunction with anatomic or spatial information such that the optimal gating times (i.e., for acquiring MR image data) in the cardiac and respiratory cycles can be identified and the optimal acquisition durations are identified relative to the physiological data. The process then uses MRI with the identified optimal gating times and acquisition durations to produce a high quality output image of the anatomy of interest. The high quality image can be one or more of the following: a two-dimensional (2D) with a higher signal-to-noise ratio (i.e., higher than the initial MR images), a 2D image with higher spatial resolution, and a three-dimensional (3D) image,
