An actuating mechanism (), for a longitudinal adjuster () of a vehicle seat, includes an upper rail () and a lower rail (), which rails are lockable to each other by at least one lock (). The actuating mechanism () includes an actuating arm (), a release lever (), a positioning element (), which is arranged on the release lever () and is mounted pivotably at a free lever end () of the release lever (), and a connecting region () which is arranged on the release lever () and has an opening () provided for the non-rotatable fastening of the actuating arm (). The free lever end () is configured for arrangement in an interior space (I) of the rails (). The connecting region () is configured so as to be able to pass through an upper side of the upper rail ().

An unlocking unit (), for a vehicle seat (), transmits a movement introduced via an actuation element () to at least two locking devices () for unlocking purposes. Each locking device () is paired with an unlocking element () and the unlocking element () is in the locked position when the respective locking device () is locked and in the unlocked position when the respective locking device () is unlocked. A display element () is in the display position when the locking devices () are unlocked and is in the non-display position when the locking devices () are locked. Each unlocking element () which can be found in the unlocked position prevents the display element () from moving into the non-display position, and the display element () remains in the display position as long as at least one locking device () is unlocked.
