An exit device assembly for use in association with a door having a top, a bottom and a generally vertical surface. The exit door assembly includes an exit device configured to be mounted on the surface of the door, the exit device including a manually movable member, a latch mechanism configured to be mounted adjacent one of the top and the bottom of the door, the latch mechanism including a latch movable between a locking position and a non-locking position, and a non-rigid device for causing movement of the latch in response to movement of the manually movable member.

Exit device assembly

An exemplary trim assembly comprises a housing assembly, a cam rotatably mounted to the housing assembly, a lift finger slidably mounted in the housing assembly such that the cam is operable to linearly drive the lift finger between a deactuated position and an actuated position, and a locking mechanism operable to selectively retain the lift finger in the deactuated position. The locking mechanism includes an interface member engaged with the lift finger such that movement of the lift finger moves the interface member between a home position and an offset position, a blocking member operable to selectively prevent movement of the interface member from the home position, and a driver configured to move the blocking member between a blocking position and an unblocking position to thereby lock and unlock the trim assembly.

Motorized trim

An exit device for a door having a first stile, a second stile, and a midrail coupled to the first and second stiles and defining a cutout. The exit device comprises a latching mechanism positioned in the cutout. A pushbar positioned in the cutout encloses the latching mechanism and has a front surface. The front surface is positionable in an extended position and a depressed position. The front surface defines a plurality of apertures which communicate with the latching mechanism. A lid slideably engages the front surface and has a closed position and an open position. The lid covers the plurality of apertures in the closed position.

Midrail mounted exit device

A control assembly configured for a narrow stile door and for interaction with an exit device. The control assembly provides a means to translate user input, such as rotating a lever to operate a centercase. The control includes a slider for sliding movement within a housing between a first position extending a latchbolt of the exit device and a second position withdrawing the latchbolt. The control assembly configuration incorporates a swivel locking latch rotatable into the path of the slider to prevent the slider from moving out of the first position.

A securing mechanism for coupling an exit device to a door. The securing mechanism comprises a bracket coupled to the exit device and a shaft having a first end and a second end and defining a longitudinal axis. The bracket defines a first aperture and a second aperture. The first end of the shaft extends through the first aperture and the second end of the shaft extends through the second aperture. The securing mechanism also comprises a first anchor slideably coupled to the shaft and moveable along the longitudinal axis between a first locked position and a first unlocked position and a second anchor slideably coupled to the shaft and moveable along the longitudinal axis between a second locked position and a second unlocked position. The first anchor frictionally engages the door in the first locked position and the second anchor frictionally engages the door in the second locked position.

Apparatus and method for securing an exit device to a door

Door exit device

A dogging device for securing a panic exit and actuation device in an unlatched condition. The dogging device uses a U-shaped spring clip to secure a base plate, a dogging adapter and a dogging hook together. The base plate, dogging adapter and dogging hook are rotated about a common axis by an operator, which can either be a hex shaft or a cylinder adapter operated by a keyed lock, from a disengaged position to an engaged position where the dogging hook engages a control rod of the exit device thereby holding, or dogging, the exit device in an unlatched condition. An over center spring is used to bias the dogging hook into either the engaged or the disengaged position.

Dogging device for a latch assembly

A mechanism for dogging a door latch assembly of a panic exit device having a retractible door latch biased to move outward from the door latch assembly, with inward movement of the door latch being activated by a push bar, includes a mechanism for holding a key cylinder positioned adjacent to the door latch assembly. A catch mechanism linked to the door latch is configured to move as the door latch is retracted, and a arm is pivotably mounted adjacent to the key cylinder holding mechanism. The arm is configured to retain the catch mechanism, with the door latch being prevented from outwardly moving with respect to the door latch assembly. When a key cylinder having an attached sweep arm is rotated, the sweep arm can alternatively rotate to engage the catch mechanism when a key is turned in the key cylinder, dogging the door latch assembly, or undog the catch mechanism from the arm by sweeping around to break the attachment between the arm and catch mechanism, allowing the door latch to move from its retracted position to its normally biased outward position with respect to the door latch assembly.

Exit delaying mechanism for panic exit door

A housing mounted to the frame of a panic exit device confines a translatable limb, and a pivotable arm. The limb has a lobe which obstructs the arm to prevent its pivoting and, as a consequence, the arm blocks the latchbolt linkage of the device to prevent unlatching. A rod joined to a time-delayed-operative solenoid is coupled to the limb for displacing the limb from arm-pivoting obstruction, to allow the arm to unblock the latchbolt linkage, whereby the latchbolt can unlatch following the time delayed deenergization of the solenoid. Under normal conditions, the solenoid is energized to prohibit immediate unlatching.
