A breaking device for interrupting current, the breaking device including an electrically conducting outer member; an electrically conducting inner member arranged radially inside the outer member with respect to a breaking axis; and an electrically insulating or semiconducting breaking tube arranged radially between the outer member and the inner member with respect to the breaking axis, the breaking tube being arranged to move along the breaking axis from a starting position to a protruding position in which the breaking tube protrudes from a space within the outer member for interrupting a current between the outer member and the inner member by means of the breaking tube.

Breaking device

An electrical switchgear for fast limitation and interruption of fault currents includes a fixed electrode, a movable electrode having a contact portion and a repelling portion, a plurality of contact fingers, and a coil. The coil is arranged adjacent to the repelling portion to induce eddy currents therein, the coil and the fixed electrode being arranged on the same side of the movable electrode, and the repelling portion being movable relative to the coil. The coil has a first dimension between two of its opposite lateral ends and defines an area which corresponds to a majority of a surface area of the repelling portion. The repelling portion provides a continuous current path, having a dimension corresponding to the first dimension, for eddy currents induced by the coil, whereby the movable electrode is pivotally thrown in a direction away from the coil and the fixed electrode, thus providing a circuit trip.

High speed limiting electrical switchgear device

Exemplary embodiments are directed to an electrical overcurrent tripping device for a circuit breaker. The tripping device includes an actuating member which in case of an overcurrent is driven to interact directly or indirectly with a movable contact piece of the circuit breaker to open a contact point in the circuit breaker if the overcurrent is exceeding a preset tripping threshold for a predetermined tripping delay time. The actuating member is coupled to a magnetic circuit such that the driving force acting on the actuating member is created by the magnetic field of the magnetic circuit, said magnetic field being induced by the overcurrent. The actuating member is coupled to an electromagnetic damping arrangement to set the tripping delay time, and is connected to a coupling spring configured to adjust the overcurrent tripping threshold.
