A hearing device having at least one of an acoustical/electrical converter and an electrical/acoustical converter respectively with an acoustical input or output. The input or output, as the case may be, is linked to a coupling opening at the outer surface of the device via a channel. At least a part of the outer surface of the device is formed by a one-part shell. The shell defines an inner space of the device, with the channel being provided within and along the part of the shell and being formed within the material of the shell.

A hearing device and process for its updating, including a resilient outer shell and one or more internal units, with the outer shell conforming in shape to at least one of the internal units so that the internal unit is held snugly in place. The outer shell can be replaced using either a destructive or non-destructive disassembly method to re-use at least one of the internal units.

Custom-molded ear-plug, and process for producing a custom-molded ear-plug device

A hearing device for inserting into or adjacent to the ear of an individual. A shell is custom-shaped to fit the individual. The shell is made mainly of a first material and includes a part made mainly of the first material. The part has an inner surface. A pattern of embossments or indentations is provided in the inner surface. The pattern is made out of the first material. The pattern represents an individualized identification code of the part or the device. The pattern is generated concurrent to the manufacture of said part. The pattern can be generated using a laser sintering process, a laser lithography process, a stereo lithography process, or a thermojet process.

Custom-moulded ear-plug, and process for producing a custom-moulded ear-plug device

A hearing aid ear-plug device and process for its manufacture, including a resilient, custom-molded outer shell adapting to the dynamics of its area of application including the ability to adapt to dynamic movement of the auditory canal. The outer shell may include fins and/or ribs integrated internally or externally with the shell. Any internal components of the device are protected while ensuring the structural stability of the device.

Custom-moulded ear-plug device

A process for manufacturing custom-moulded ear plug device, such as in-ear hearing aids used in an area subject to dynamic and individually different movements. A three-dimensional image of an area of application of the device is taken at two or more positions of movement. Data from the images are used to design the outer contour of the device for optimal fit and performance.

Thus, the device and process ensures that hearing aids designed for a particular individual is properly and uniquely identifiable.
