A tire pressure monitoring unit is mounted on a vehicle wheel having a pressure and acceleration sensor. A method for assigning wheel positions includes pressure and acceleration data determined from the sensors. The pressure data and at least one piece of information derived from the acceleration data are transmitted wirelessly in a data telegram together with a characteristic identifier. Information concerning the reliability of the information derived from the acceleration data is acquired in the tire pressure monitoring unit on the basis of the measurements and is transmitted with the data telegram. A central evaluation unit considers a plurality of data telegrams and, taking account of data from the ABS sensors, assigns the individual tire pressure monitoring units to wheel positions. Data telegrams in which the reliability is higher receive a greater weighting, and data telegrams in which the reliability is smaller receive a smaller weighting.

A tire pressure sensor includes a pressure sensor element, a Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) interface and a microcontroller that is coupled to the pressure sensor element and the BLE interface. An evaluation unit: collects the identifiers and rotational direction information and the driving speed, and on this basis, differentiates between identifiers of wheel electronics on the left and right vehicle side; differentiates impacts reported from wheel electronics on the left vehicle side, from impacts reported from wheel electronics on the right vehicle side; measures the time between impact signals reported from wheel electronics on the left or on the right vehicle side; multiplies the measured time by the driving speed measuring during this time; and checks whether the length formed by the multiplication coincides with an axle distance.

A tire pressure sensor for motor vehicles includes a housing accommodating an integrated circuit (sensor IC), wherein the sensor IC has a microcontroller and a pressure sensor. The microcontroller, transfers pressure measurement values acquired by the pressure sensor to a receiver by wireless communication. The sensor IC has an internal memory, in which executable instructions and data can be stored, which, when executed, result in the acquisition and transference of the pressure measurement data. A tire pressure sensor for motor vehicles, includes a housing, which accommodates an integrated circuit (sensor IC), having a microcontroller and a pressure sensor. The microcontroller transfers pressure measurement values to a separate receiver device by wireless communication. The sensor IC has an internal memory, in which executable instructions and data can be stored, which, when executed, result in the acquisition and transference of the pressure measurement data. A power supply is disposed in the housing, and coupled to the sensor IC which is coupled to an auxiliary memory module disposed in the housing. Numerous different data packets, with respective instructions or data, are stored in the memory module. The auxiliary memory module can be activated via the microcontroller, in order to copy a selected data packet into the internal memory. The auxiliary memory module is coupled to the microcontroller of the sensor IC by a serial data interface.

A tire pressure monitoring device is equipped for attaching to a wheel of a vehicle provided with pneumatic tires. The device measures the tire air pressure present in the pneumatic tire or a change of the tire pressure. An electrical circuit controls the tire pressure monitoring device. A memory stores a program for the electrical circuit.
