The present invention relates to a continuous process for preparing permselective hollow fiber membranes being suitable e.g. for hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration and hemofiltration of blood which comprises a two-stage drying and tempering treatment of the hollow fiber membranes. According to a further aspect, the invention relates to a continuous process for drying permselective hollow fiber membranes on-line. The invention also relates to devices for on-line drying of permselective hollow fiber membranes.

On-line drying of hollow fiber membranes

The invention relates to a blood treatment device configured to dephosphorylate extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP), adenosine diphosphate (ADP), adenosine monophosphate (AMP) and/or lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in the blood of a patient in need thereof in an extracorporeal blood circuit, wherein the device comprises a matrix having alkaline phosphatase (AP) immobilized thereon. The invention further relates to an extracorporeal blood circuit comprising a blood treatment device of the invention and to the blood treatment device for use as a medicament or to methods of treating an infection, preferably a blood or systemic infection, such as sepsis, and/or for the treatment of sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (AKI).

The invention relates to a dispenser of a sealant for hemostasis comprising a container configured to receive a fibrinogen solution and an activation compartment being situated downstream of the container and comprising a functionalized support to which a coagulation factor, preferably thrombin, is immobilized, such that upon dispensing the fibrinogen solution it passes through the activation compartment, thereby generating and dispensing polymerizing fibrin as a sealant. The invention further relates to a support, exchangeable tip and a kit for the dispenser as well as to methods and uses of the dispenser or components thereof for dispensing a sealant to a desired site.

Device and method for the delivery of a thrombin activated fibrin sealant

Synthetic membranes for the removal, isolation, or purification of substances from a liquid. The membranes include at least one hydrophobic polymer and at least one hydrophilic polymer. 5-40 wt.-% of particles having an average particles size of between 0.1 and 15 μm are entrapped. The membrane has a wall thickness of below 150 μm. Methods for preparing the membranes in various geometries, and use of the membranes for the adsorption, isolation, and/or purification of substances from a liquid are explored.

Doped membranes

The present disclosure relates to a dialyzer comprising a bundle of semipermeable hollow fiber membranes which is suitable for blood purification, wherein the dialyzer has an increased ability to remove larger molecules while at the same time it is able to effectively remove small uremic toxins and efficiently retain albumin and larger proteins. The invention also relates to using said dialyzer in hemodialysis.

Hemodialyzer for blood purification

The present disclosure relates to semipermeable membranes which are suitable for blood purification, e.g. by hemodialysis, which have an increased ability to remove larger molecules while at the same time effectively retaining albumin. The membranes are characterized by a molecular retention onset (MWRO) of between 9.0 kD and 14.5 kD and a molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of between 55 kD and 130 kD as determined by dextran sieving curves and can be prepared by industrially feasible processes excluding a treatment with salt before drying. The invention therefore also relates to a process for the production of the membranes and to their use in medical applications.

Membrane for blood purification

The present disclosure relates to an artificial, extracorporeal system for supporting the function of the liver of a patient suffering from liver failure, which is characterized in that it comprises a first high-flux or high cut-off hollow fiber membrane dialyzer which is perfused on the lumen side with the patient's blood and wherein a buffered aqueous solution comprising human serum albumin is passed in a continuous flow through the filtrate space of said first dialyzer, a second hollow fiber membrane dialyzer which removes water-soluble substances from the dialysate of said first dialyzer, and a third, integrated hollow fiber membrane dialyzer which is perfused with the retentate of second hemodialyzer and which allows the passage of certain amounts of albumin over the membrane wall into the filtrate space which is populated with adsorbent material. The system can be used for the treatment of acute liver failure and acute-on-chronic liver failure.

Liver support system devices and methods thereof

A system for liver dialysis makes use of a high cut-off hemodialysis membrane for removing water-soluble and protein-bound toxins from the blood of a person in need. A high cut-off hollow fiber hemodialysis membrane has improved potential to remove albumin-bound toxins and inflammatory mediators.

The present disclosure relates to a hemodialysis membrane for the treatment of vascular calcification in hemodialysis patients, especially in chronic hemodialysis patients. The present disclosure further relates to methods of treating vascular calcification in hemodialysis patients, wherein the hemodialysis membrane is characterized in that it comprises at least one hydrophobic polymer and at least one hydrophilic polymer and in that it has a MWRO of between 15 and 20 kD and a MWCO of between 170-320 kD or that the hemodialysis membrane comprises at least one hydrophobic polymer and at least one hydrophilic polymer and has a MWRO of between 8.5 kD and 14.0 kD and a MWCO of between 55 kD and 130 kD.
