A power cable termination device for a high voltage direct current gas-insulated switchgear including: an outer housing made of an electrically conducting material, connectable to the switchgear; a terminal portion of a power cable, the power cable including an electrical conductor, a circumferential electrically insulating layer, and a circumferential conductive shield which is stripped off along a first part of the power cable; an electric field grading system including a resistive field grading material layer arranged circumferentially around the power cable to axially cover the edge of the conductive shield where the conductive shield is terminated, the resistive field grading material layer being in electrical contact therewith, and a connection device connectable to the gas-insulated switchgear and arranged to provide mechanical support and electrical contact with the gas-insulated switchgear.

A method in the manufacturing of an insulated electric high voltage DC termination or joint includes providing an insulated electric high voltage DC cable including a high voltage DC conductor, a polymer based insulation system surrounding the high voltage DC conductor, the polymer based insulation system including an insulation layer and a semiconducting layer surrounding the insulation layer, and a grounding layer surrounding the semiconducting layer; removing the grounding layer and the semiconducting layer in at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable, mounting a field grading adapter or joint body in the at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable; and subjecting the insulation layer of the polymer based insulation system in the at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable for a heat treatment procedure, while being covered by the mounted field grading adapter or joint body.

Method in the manufacturing of an insulated electric high voltage DC termination or joint

The present disclosure relates to a high voltage power cable joint device including: an elongated conductive connector having a first and second end faces, a field control body having a first semiconducting layer arranged circumferentially around the entire connector, and extending beyond the end faces, wherein the first and second end faces are provided with first and second bore sections which extend parallel with and are arranged offset from the central axis of the connector. The connector has an outer surface that has a first and second outer portions where the connector wall is generally the thinnest towards the first and second bore sections. Furthermore, the connector has a straight first through-opening which extends from the first outer surface portion to the first bore section, wherein a straight second through-opening is axially displaced from the first through-opening and extends from the second outer surface portion to the second bore section. There is also disclosed a high voltage power cable including a high voltage power cable joint device.

Electric field control device for high power cable and method for manufacturing thereof

A method in the manufacturing of an insulated electric high voltage DC termination or joint includes the steps of providing an insulated electric high voltage DC cable including an inner conductor; a polymer based insulation system, the polymer based insulation system comprising an insulation layer and a semiconducting layer; and an outer grounding layer; removing the grounding layer and the semiconducting layer in at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable, thereby exposing the insulation layer in the at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable; covering the insulation layer of the polymer based insulation system in the at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable by a cover impermeable to at least one substance present in the insulation layer of the polymer based insulation system in the at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable in a non-homogenous distribution; subjecting the insulation layer of the polymer based insulation system in the at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable for a heat treatment procedure, while being covered by the cover, thereby equalizing the concentration of the at least one substance in the insulation layer of the polymer based insulation system in the at least one end portion of the high voltage DC cable; and removing the cover. Instead of using a temporary cover, which is later removed, as the impermeable barrier, a field grading adapter or joint body mounted at the end of the DC cable during the manufacturing of the high voltage DC termination or joint may be used.

A device for controlling an electric field at a high voltage component includes an inner deflector electrically connected to live voltage component; a resistive layer adapted for field control, arranged along the high voltage component, and electrically connected to the live high voltage component and electrically connected to a grounded part, the resistive layer having a nonlinear current-voltage characteristics; an insulating layer extending but ending without reaching the end of the resistive layer; and a semi-conducting or conducting layer arranged on the insulating layer and extending towards the resistive layer and past the end of the insulating layer, thereby defining an outer triple point at the intersection of the resistive layer, the insulating layer, and the semi-conducting or conducting layer. The resistive layer has first, second, and third adjacent sections, wherein a portion of the first section extends below the inner deflector.

The apparatus includes a housing having an outer shell, and the current-carrying device is adapted to extend in the axial direction of the outer shell. Along at least a part of the axial extension of the current-carrying device the outer shell extends axially with a space between its inner periphery and the current-carrying device.

Along at least a part of the axial extension of the current-carrying device the outer shell extends axially with a space between its inner periphery and the current-carrying device. The housing is adapted to separate the space from an atmosphere outside the outer shell, and the space is filled with an electrically insulating fluid.

The current-carrying device extends in the axial direction of the outer shell. Along at least a part of the axial extension of the current-carrying device the outer shell extends axially with a space between its inner periphery and the current-carrying device. The housing is adapted to separate the space from an atmosphere outside the outer shell.
