An individual chain wheel for a bicycle front crank arrangement for engaging in a drive chain includes a plurality of teeth formed on a circumference of the chain wheel and having a first and a second group of teeth. The teeth of the second group of teeth are arranged in an alternating manner between the teeth of the first group of teeth. Each tooth has a load flank via which force is transmitted between an adjacent roller of the drive chain and the respective tooth. Each tooth of the first group may also have at least one profile with an opening in the vicinity of the flank, in which a portion of an inner link plate of the drive chain, which portion protrudes beyond the roller, engages.

A drive arrangement for a bicycle may include a plurality of sprockets arranged at a rear wheel of the bicycle. The sprockets may be particularly arranged to have a spacing that facilitates the configuration of an increasing number of sprockets in the plurality of sprockets. A singular front sprocket or chain ring may be used to drive the rear plurality of sprockets. The singular front chain ring may include first and second groups of teeth, the first group of teeth being wider than the second group of teeth. The drive arrangement may also include a rear derailleur. A chain having inner link plates with recesses may also be include in the drive arrangement.

A chain may be engageable with a chainwheel assembly that includes a plurality of chainwheels having different tooth counts. The chain includes a plurality of inner links having inner link plates, a plurality of outer links having outer link plates, and a plurality of pins joining the outer and inner links in alternating sequence. The chain also may include the inner link plate having a chamfer disposed on a surface of a link plate, the chamfer disposed on a central region of an inner link extending between two points, the chamfer having a contour between the two points that is discontinuous at a central region of the inner link plate. The chain also may include a second chamfer and the first chamfer forming a ridge of constant thickness therebetween.

A bicycle chainring includes a plurality of teeth extending from a periphery of the chainring wherein roots of the plurality of teeth are disposed adjacent the periphery of the chainring. The plurality of teeth include a first group of teeth and a second group of teeth, each of the first group of teeth wider than each of the second group of teeth. At least some of the second group of teeth are arranged alternatingly and adjacently between the first group of teeth, and wherein the periphery of the chainring is generally non-circular.

A bicycle chainwheel assembly includes at least one smaller chainwheel and at least one larger chainwheel, the chainwheels engageable by a chain. The larger chainwheel includes a first tooth and a second tooth disposed adjacent the first tooth opposite a drive rotation direction. The first tooth and the second tooth have a configuration that improves the shifting of a chain from a smaller chainwheel to the larger chainwheel. The first tooth has a lateral recess and the second tooth has a deflection chamfer. The second tooth may also have a recess. The first and second teeth have a configuration that prevents the first and second teeth from capturing the chain. An inner link plate of the chain includes a chamfer disposed on an outer side surface in a central region of the plate.
