A transport stream provider for providing a plurality of transport stream packets describing digital media information is configured to provide a transport stream packet of a first packet type including a program association table and key information for decrypting encrypted media information. The program association table contains an association between a program No. and a packet type identifier of a further transport stream packet of a second packet type. The transport stream provider is configured to provide a transport stream packet of the second packet type in such a manner that the transport stream packet of the second packet type contains a reference to packet type identifiers of transport stream payload data packets which describe contents of different content types of the digital media information.

Concept of efficiently distributing access authorization information

The navigation overhead and/or the content managing/updating overhead is reduced by providing link objects with condition data being associated with the link items of the link objects so that, depending on a check as to whether the condition data is fulfilled or not, an automatic handling of a link object may be performed. Text-based information transmission

When generating a data stream, text data, an escape-start-sequence, a first number of data units, an escape-continuation-sequence and a second number of data units are entered into a data stream. A base decoder displays only the text data and skips the data units referenced by the escape-start-sequence and the escape-continuation-sequence, while an extension decoder reads those data units and processes them together.

A text-based information transmission is made complying with a greater number of transport-layer systems by performing the fragmentation and de-fragmentation of the information object at the application-layer side rather than at transport-layer domain. By this manner, the text-based information service is not restricted to transport-layer systems accommodating the maximum size of the information objects. Rather, it is possible to adjust the fragmentation size of the fragments into which the information objects are fragmented to the maximum transport packet content section size offered by the transport layer within the application layer. The fragment size may even vary in a time-varying manner responsive to instructions from the transport layer posed onto the transport layer in consequence of time-varying transmission channel characteristics, for example.

Transmission scheme for text-based information

A transmitter for transmitting information data present in a plurality of data sets comprises an assigner for assigning offset information to one or more data sets of the plurality of data sets, the offset information indicating where the data set is to be written in a memory of a receiver. Furthermore, the transmitter comprises a transmitting unit for transmitting a plurality of data sets and the offset information associated with the data set. Hereby, it is possible to effect improved error correction as opposed to the prior art.

It is a finding of the present invention that a user of a broadcast receiver gets text information significantly more quickly if a reference to another text information object in the broadcasting signal is contained in a text information object included in the broadcasting signal, which is currently displayed on the display of the broadcast receiver, and the user is enabled to cause the text information to be displayed to be changed from the text information of the current text information object to the text information of the text information object to which the current text information object refers by simple operation of a user selection means. Here, the additional effort is very limited since in today's broadcast receivers there mostly is an 'unoccupied' key, which only has an assigned function and thus is occupied in special situations of use of the broadcast receiver, and may be used as user selection means, as far as that goes. Due to the strong limitation of the available bandwidths of common broadcasting systems for data services, codings as efficient as possible are used in the generation of the text information objects to be transmitted.
