A switching valve module is provided in a connecting rod of a reciprocating internal combustion engine in order to control a distributing device for changing the compression ratio of a cylinder unit of the reciprocating internal combustion engine. In order to provide an arrangement of a mechanically actuated switching valve module which can be advantageously integrated into the connecting rod, the switching valve module should be arranged in a module housing of which at least partly has an outer cylindrical contour and a transverse through-bore for receiving a control slide valve, and the cylindrical section of the switching valve module can be inserted into a receiving bore in the connecting rod that is transverse to a longitudinal central axis of a connecting rod bearing eye.

Arrangement of a switching valve module in a connecting rod of a reciprocating internal combustion engine

A device for changing a compression ratio of a cylinder unit of a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine has an eccentric bushing which is rotatably arranged in a bore of a connecting rod eye. Said eye encloses a crank pin of a crankshaft, and the bushing is rotatably guided in the bore and can be locked via locking openings, which are arranged to be offset from each other by preferably approximately 180&#xb0;. The connecting rod has a locking apparatus which interacts optionally with the locking openings and via which the eccentric bushing can only ever be transferred from one position to the next. The locking apparatus has a sliding guideway extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bore of the connecting rod bearing eye. The sliding guide interacts with actuating pins arranged in the locking openings and can be displaced radially with respect to the bushing.

A device for changing a compression ratio of a cylinder unit of a reciprocating piston combustion engine is provided. An eccentric bushing is rotatably arranged in a receiving bore hole of a bearing eye of a connecting rod ('conrod'). The conrod bearing eye is formed by a conrod upper part and a conrod lower part, and which surrounds a crankpin of a crankshaft. In addition, the eccentric bushing is rotatably guided in the receiving bore hole and can be locked preferably in two positions which are offset from one another by approximately 180&#xb0; in the circumferential direction of the eccentric bushing. In order to achieve a targeted rotation of the eccentric bushing in the bore hole of the conrod bearing eye between the locking positions, a freewheel is arranged between an outer casing surface of the eccentric bushing and the receiving bore hole of the conrod bearing eye.

A method for operating an internal combustion engine with a sliding cam valve train that has a cam part () with three adjacent cams of different lifts (H, M, L) and a groove-shaped connecting link path with two path sections (S, S) that lift in both axial directions of the cam part and are arranged completely one behind the other around the circumference is provided. An actuator () selectively couples two actuator pins () in the connecting link path, in order to move the cam part. The base position of the cam part should be moved into a desired axial position during the operation of the internal combustion engine through successive coupling of the actuator pins in the connecting link path.

Variable lift valve train of an internal combustion engine

A sliding cam valve train for an internal combustion engine is provided. A cam piece () displaceably arranged on a carrier shaft () includes a cam group () with differing cam lifts and an axial groove with two groove tracks (), which are arranged completely behind one another in the circumferential direction of the axial groove. An actuator pin () which may be introduced into the axial groove displaces the cam piece in the direction of both groove tracks. Each of the groove tracks end with a radially lifting ramp () for extending the actuator pin from the axial groove. The radial lift of the exit ramps should be significantly smaller than the groove base depth of the axial groove between the exit ramps.

Valve gear for an internal combustion engine

A controllable coolant pump, insertable in a coolant circuit of an internal combustion engine includes a pump housing, in which a hollow pump shaft is supported rotationally with an allocated impeller. Rotation of the impeller conveys coolant. To control a volume conveyed by the coolant pump an axially displaceable guide disk is provided, allocated to the impeller and cooperating with an actuating mechanism. The guide disk is connected to a push rod, guided in the pump shaft, and is displaceable between two end positions defined by a rear wall and a pump cover of the impeller. The actuating mechanism further includes a displacement pump integrated in the coolant pump, with a coolant flow of the displacement pump being supplied for adjustment of the guide disk via a control valve to an actuator, which includes a piston in a pressure chamber in the pump shaft connected to the push rod.

Actuating mechanism to regulate a controllable coolant pump

A regulatable coolant pump for a cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine having a pump housing with a hollow pump shaft with an impeller. Rotation of the impeller moves coolant. An axially displaceable guide disk on the impeller controls a pump displacement volume and works via an actuating mechanism. The guide disk is rigidly connected to a connecting rod guided in the pump shaft. The actuating mechanism includes a displacement pump integrated in the coolant pump, and an actuator formed as a piston-cylinder unit with a pressure chamber in the pump housing that has a circular annular shape positioned to coincide with an outer region of the guide disk. A piston that works together with the guide disk is guided in linearly displaceable fashion in the pressure chamber. A coolant flow of the displacement pump controlled by a control valve charges the pressure chamber to displace the piston.
