A method for detecting arc faults when charging electric battery systems or lead acid batteries, which are electrically connected in series to form a string which is supplied via a DC voltage converter. A first value corresponding to an electric voltage applied to the string and a second value corresponding to an electric current flowing through the string are generated. As a first condition, it is checked whether the first value changes by more than a first limit value within a first time window. As the second condition, it is checked whether the second value changes by more than a second limit value within a second time window. An arc is detected if the first condition and the second condition are met within a third time window. Provided also is a method for manufacturing electric battery systems, in particular lead acid batteries, as well as to a cut-off device.

Method for detecting accidental arcs during the charging of electrical battery systems

A disconnecting device for interrupting the direct current between a direct current source, in particular in the direct voltage range between 300 VDc and/or in the nominal current range between 4A and 250A, and a load. The device has at least one protection switch with a protection switch arrangement having a magnetic trigger, and has semiconductor electronics which are connected in parallel to the at least one protection switch and which block the current when the protection switch arrangement is in a current-conducting state and which conducts current at least temporarily when the protection switch arrangement is triggered. A current, in particular an electric arc current generated as a result of an electric arc, is switched, when the protection switch arrangement is triggered, from the at least one protection switch to the semiconductor electronics.

A high-voltage motor vehicle electric system contains a high-voltage battery and a consumer network which are interconnected by an electric cable, and a quick-break switch for disconnecting the high-voltage battery from the consumer network. The quick-break switch receives an airbag signal. The airbag signal is used for actuating the quick-break switch to sever the electric cable supplying power to the consumer network.

A high current switch, in particular for a motor vehicle, having a first bus bar, a second bus bar in addition to a first semi-conductor switch that has a control connection and a first transmission connection as well as a second transmission connection. An electrical circuit including a circuit board on which a number of electrical and/or electronic components are mounted, and a busbar that has a supporting body and a first, second, and third connection. The supporting body is spaced apart from the circuit board and the connections are brought into electrical contact both with the supporting body and with the circuit board. The supporting body has a first cross section between the first and second connection and a second cross section between the second and third connection, wherein the first cross section is smaller than the second cross section. The invention further relates to a bus bar.

Method for identifying arcing faults and circuit breaker

A method and a device for safely switching a direct-voltage system, in particular a photovoltaic system, in the event of an arc occurring on a direct-current side. Wherein the generated direct current and the produced direct voltage are set with regard to power guidance. In the event of a sensor-detected arc, the power guidance is adjusted and a power change of the arc is detected. In the event of a power drop of the arc, a serial or parallel arc is detected according to the adjustment direction of the power guidance. A circuit breaker configuration contains a number of circuit breakers each to be connected via lines to a system component of a power distribution system and a plurality of control buttons with a respective one of the control buttons connected to a respective one of the circuit breakers. In order to detect and evaluate changes in current as a result of electric arcs, a sensor signal, differentiated on the basis of time, is produced with a sensor-dependent frequency bandwidth whose upper cutoff frequency is 40 MHz and whose lower cutoff frequency is 100 kHz. The sensor signal is taken and an evaluation signal is produced with an upper cutoff frequency of less than or equal to 10 MHz. The evaluation signal is compared with a threshold value and a normalized signal is produced, and a pulse duration of the signal is extended to a prescribed time value.
