A method for testing a measuring device is used to determine a permittivity of a frying fat which permittivity is inter alia dependent on the temperature, while taking into consideration the temperature. The method is characterized in that the permittivity is measured at least two different temperatures and the temperature dependence is determined and is used to make a statement on the ability to function of the measuring device.

In a gas sensor with at least two electrodes and with a sensor body which is connected thereto and is composed of a gas-sensitive material, in addition to pores which may already be present, second cavities are provided in the sensor body. The second cavities may be suitable on account of their size to facilitate and accelerate the distribution of gas molecules in the sensor body and to thus improve the time response of the gas sensor.

For calibrating a humidity sensor, the latter is used to measure the relative humidity (U, U) at each of two known gas pressure values (P, P), likewise to be measured if necessary. At the same time, other ambient conditions are kept constant. A correction value for correction of the measured values of the humidity sensor to be subtracted from the latter is then obtained from the formula: k=((P/P)*UU)/(P/P). The humidity sensor is thus capable of calibration without measurement of the actual humidity value.
