Photovoltaic module with a plurality of thin film photovoltaic cells (). Each thin film photovoltaic cell () has a transparent electrode () provided on a transparent substrate (), a solar cell stack () positioned on the transparent electrode (), and a top electrode () positioned on the solar cell stack (). A plurality of parallel connected PV cell units () are provided, each comprising a string of series connected PV cells (). A positive connection part () and a negative connection part () are present in a single top interconnection layer, providing the parallel connection circuit of the parallel connected PV cell units (). At least one cross over connection member () is present in a layer different from the single top interconnection layer, which provides an electrical connection in the negative connection part () and/or in the positive connection part ().

Thin film photo-voltaic module

A photovoltaic module () with a plurality of photovoltaic units () each having a positive contact terminal () and a negative contact terminal (), and a single layer back contact substrate (). The back contact substrate () has a positive surface part () electrically connected to the positive contact terminal () of each of the plurality of photovoltaic units (), and a negative surface part () electrically connected to the negative contact terminal () of each of the plurality of photovoltaic units (). The photovoltaic module () further has at least one contact bridge () in a layer of the photovoltaic module () outside of the single layer back contact substrate (), which provides an electrical connection in the negative surface part () and/or in the positive surface part ().

Photovoltaic module with back contact foil

A solar panel includes a silicon cells submodule of silicon based cells, a front transparent plate and a backsheet. The backsheet is arranged with at least a first conductive pattern that is connected to rear surface electrical contacts on each of the silicon cells. A thin film photovoltaic submodule is arranged between the front transparent plate and the silicon cells, and includes thin film cells in an arrangement with two photovoltaic submodule contacts that connect to a second conductive pattern on the backsheet. The backsheet is arranged for four-terminal wiring with the first pattern for the silicon cells and the second pattern for the thin film cells. The thin film cells are disposed in a first group of cells and in at least a second group of cells, each connected in series. The first group is connected in parallel with the second group, between the photovoltaic submodule contacts.

Back side connection layer for a photo-voltaic module comprising a plurality of PV-cells (i,j), the plurality PV-cells (i,j) being of a type having one or more back side contacts and divided in a preset number of strings () of series connected PV-cells (i. j). By-pass diodes are connectable in parallel to each of the preset number of strings (), and three or more strings () are provided. The plurality of PV-cells (i,j) are positioned such that electrical connections to the first PV-cell and last PV-cell of each of the preset number of strings () are provided in a part of the back side connection layer overlapping a part of a two-by-two arrangement of PV-cells (i,j).

Back side contact layer for PV module with modified cell connection topology

Photovoltaic module with a negative terminal () and a positive terminal (), and a parallel connection () of m sub-modules () connected to the negative and the positive terminal () of the photovoltaic module (). Each of the m sub-modules () has a string of n series-connected back-contact cells (), wherein the n cells () of each sub-module () are arranged in an array. The parallel connection () and connections () for each string of n series-connected back contact cells () are provided in a back conductive sheet, and the back conductive sheet comprises designated areas () for the parallel connection (), corresponding to edge parts of each corresponding sub-module ().

Photovoltaic module

Back side connection layer for a photo-voltaic module with a plurality of PV-cells. The PV-cells are of a type having a plurality of back side contacts. A by-pass diode connection path is formed in the back side connection layer along an edge direction of two adjacent cells with a straight or meandering pattern around outer contacts of the plurality of back side contacts of the two adjacent cells.
