A milling tool with a disk- or strip-shaped base body, which can be driven around an axis of rotation, and several cutting inserts arranged along the outer circumference of the base body on opposite sides from one another, wherein the cutting inserts, viewed in the axial direction, overlap one another. The invention also relates to a tangential cutting insert for a milling tool of the above-mentioned type, with two side surfaces, through which a fastening opening extends, and two face ends, wherein cutting edges are formed at the junction of the front faces to the side surfaces, wherein the fastening opening is positioned eccentrically.

Milling tool and cutting insert for such a milling tool

A tool () for machining workpieces, comprising a carrier () rotating in an axial direction (A) during operation, and further comprising multiple cutting segments (), which are fastened to the carrier () in a radial direction (R), characterized in that at least one hydraulic clamping unit () is attached to the carrier () for clamping at least one of the cutting segments () to the carrier ().

Tool for machining workpieces

A tool for the turning/turn broaching of workpieces is provided, including a carrier which can be attached directly or indirectly to a machine tool with a plurality of segments which are fastened to the carrier. The invention relates to a method for precision machining of crankshafts or camshafts to final dimensional tolerances R&#x3c;10 &#x3bc;m, preferably &#x2266;5 &#x3bc;m and concentricity tolerances &#x2266;30 &#x3bc;m, preferably &#x2266;6 &#x3bc;m, which have been machined and at least partially subjected to hardening, wherein after the first machining has been carried out and subsequent hardening to 45 to 60 HRC, preferably 50 to 53 HRC, a final machining is carried out by means of at least one milling tool, wherein it is provided that the final machining is carried out by means of cutting inserts made of coated hard metal. The invention further relates to a milling tool for precision machining of crankshafts or camshafts by carrying out the method of the invention.

Method and milling cutter for machining hardened crankshafts or camshafts

The invention relates to a tool for the outside milling or for the rotary broaching of tools that rotate about the longitudinal axis thereof during machining. A disk-shaped tool carrier includes peripherally arranged cutting inserts or cartridges having cutting inserts. According to the invention, the cutting inserts or the cartridges are arranged on a ring-shaped or partially ring-shaped, segment-shaped carrier that is removably fastened to a machine spindle either directly or indirectly by an adapter.

The invention relates to an internal milling cutter including an annular tool support () equipped on the inner casing thereof with cutting inserts. The tool support () is fastened in a machine holder (). According to the invention, a bayonet-type connection is provided between the tool support () and the machine holder ().

The invention relates to a cutting insert, in particular for machining crankshafts, having two base surfaces () which are arranged parallel to one another and through which a respective hole () passes for receiving a clamping screw and which merge at their shorter edges into rounded end faces which are each defined laterally by cutting edges. According to the invention, at least one pair of the cutting edges is of stepped design and has two convex sections () and a concave section () lying in between, wherein the outer convex section () extends over an angle of 180&#xb0;.

Cutting insert

The invention relates to a tool for turning/turn broaching or external milling of work pieces rotating about longitudinal axes during machining, comprising a disc-shaped tool support having cassettes () disposed peripherally thereon, each of said cassettes containing a cutting insert (), said cassettes being fastenable to a circular, partially circular or segmented removable support () that is fastened either directly to a machine spindle or indirectly to a machine spindle by way of an adapter. According to the invention, the cassette () comprises a plate seat with a seating surface () and two lateral surfaces () as contact surfaces for the cutting insert () and can be radially adjusted by way of an adjustment member () and can be fastened by way of a clamping member (); the cassette () further comprises a slit-shaped groove () parallel to the seating surface () for the cutting insert (), said groove having opposing groove walls with a distance and angle with respect to one another that are adjustable by way of an adjustment screw () such that the angular position of the seating surface () can be changed.

Tool for turning/turn broaching or external milling of work pieces

The invention relates to a method and a device for the precision machining of crankshafts or camshafts to final size tolerances R&#x3c;10 &#x3bc;m, preferably &#x2266;5 &#x3bc;m and concentricity tolerances&#x2266;30 &#x3bc;M, preferably 6 &#x3bc;m. The crankshafts or camshafts has been machined by a cutting operation and at least partly subjected to hardening. According to the invention, after an initial cutting operation and subsequent hardening to 45 to 60 HRC, preferably 50 to 53 HRC, a final cutting operation is carried out using cutting inserts fitted with CBN or PCD inlets. The device used for this purpose has cutting inserts which are fitted with CBN or PCD inlets, wherein cutting inserts clamped in place laterally, radially and tangentially follow each other alternately.

Method and device for the precision machining of crankshafts and camshafts

The invention relates to a cutting insert () with a base, having a supporting surface, a covering surface, at a distance therefrom and side faces (), connecting said surfaces, whereby two or several adjacent surfaces form cutting edges (). According to said invention, the supporting surface is connected in a non-detachable manner to a supporting surface of a cutting plate (), the geometry of which is different from the cutting insert () and suitable for another metal cutting operation.

Cutting insert, in particular, for crankshaft machining

The invention relates to a method for machining crankshafts during which the machining of the bearing width and of the oil collar should be carried out simultaneously. To this end, a disk-shaped outer milling cutter having a number of cutting tools () is used of which a portion serves to machine a bearing base of the crankshaft and the other portion serves to machine an oil collar adjacent to the bearing base. According to the invention, a set angle (&#x3ba;) for the cutting tools for machining the oil collar is selected according to the actual dimension, during which the effective depth of cut hfor each cutting insert is limited to a predeterminable maximum value. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out this method.

Method for machining crankshafts and device for carrying out this method

The invention relates to a cutting insert for clamping into a disc-type or strip-shaped tool body, in particular, for milling crankshafts, whereby the insert is substantially cuboid-shaped and has two front faces, two side faces, serving as cutting faces as well as an upper and a lower side face, whereby a convex face is arranged between the front faces and the upper and lower side faces, so that the upper and lower side faces and the convex face form cutting edges each with a side face. According to invention, the cutting insert has an inwardly-tapered face adjoining the convex face, which allows the cutting edge to protrude and tapered chamfers are provided between the inwardly-tapered faces of the front face on both sides of a planar supporting surface to the outer edge.

The invention relates to a cutter support () for fastening to a cutter head, comprising a shaft-like pin () and a head, having a soldered-in cutter () with a minor cutting edge formed by a face () and a free surface (). According to the invention the minor cutting edge has a rounded area (), the radius of which continuously increases from a minor cutting edge end () at least to the cutting edge center, or to the other minor cutting edge end ().

The invention relates to a tool coupling for connecting a tool carrier which can be driven in a rotating manner, in particular a milling tool with a machine spindle or an adapter connected to a spindle, wherein four drivers in a crosswise formation are provided for transmitting torque between the said parts and in the clamping state engage in four recesses. To allow the tool coupling to be easily operated and to be of a simple construction, and also to counteract undesired jamming, it is proposed that the drivers respectively have on the side transmitting the torque a planar face which lies with full surface-area contact against a wall of a groove-shaped recess in the clamping state, that on the opposite side the driver has a smaller positively or frictionally engaging contact with the wall there of the groove-shaped recess and that a quick-acting clamping device is providing for the axial clamping of the tool carrier and the spindle or an adapter.
