The invention relates to the use of quaternized nitrogen compounds as a fuel and lubricant additive or kerosene additive, such as in particular as a detergent additive, for decreasing or preventing deposits in the injection systems of direct-injection diesel engines, in particular in common rail injection systems, for decreasing the fuel consumption of direct-injection diesel engines, in particular of diesel engines having common rail injection systems, and for minimizing the power loss in direct-injection diesel engines, in particular in diesel engines having common rail injection systems; the invention further relates to the use as an additive for petrol, in particular for operation of DISI engines.

Use of nitrogen compounds quaternised with alkylene oxide and hydrocarbyl-substituted polycarboxylic acid as additives in fuels and lubricants

The present invention relates to a method of processing a workpiece comprising contacting a tool and a workpiece to effect a change in the shape of the workpiece, and applying a metalworking fluid to a surface area where the tool and the workpiece are in contact, where the metalworking fluid contains a propoxylate of the formula R&#x2014;O&#x2014;(CHO)&#x2014;H, where R is a branched Cto Calkyl and n is from 3 to 30. The invention further relates to the metalworking fluid, and to a use of the propoxylate as additive in metalworking fluids.

An olefin-carboxylic acid copolymer, containing at least one free carboxylic acid side group, or a nitrogen compound quaternized with epoxide in the presence of an olefin-carboxylic acid copolymer, containing at least one free carboxylic acid side group, can be used as a fuel additive or lubricant additive. Processes can be used for preparing additives of this kind and fuels and lubricants additized therewith, such as a detergent additive.
