The application relates to a media drawer for a media processing device with a housing and an electrically-driven lift table arranged in the housing, where the media drawer is movable between a first position, in which the media drawer is arranged in the media processing device in such a manner that media can be removed from the media drawer by the media processing device, and a second position, in which media can be inserted into the media drawer, where the lift table can be supplied with power in the first position by the power supply of the media processing device. Further, the media drawer can exhibit a power supply that is independent of the power supply of the media processing device, via which the lift table can be provided with power in the second position.

An accumulator for an automatic sheet media punching and collating system includes a proximal end, having a shoulder, a distal end, and a moveable collating belt, disposed below the shoulder, extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The collating belt has an upwardly extending lower stop with an accumulating position opposite the shoulder, defining a drop region. The lower stop is configured to contact a lower edge of sheets of media sequentially received at the proximal end, whereby the sheets stop and accumulate in the drop region in a lift in a book order. The collating belt is selectively moveable to discharge the lift as a unit toward the distal end.

The task of the invention comprises reliably acquiring documents from an output device with variable output speed without impermissible tractive forces being exerted onto the documents. For this purpose the rotational speed of the transport system of the acquisition unit is determined under no-load condition and the torque of the drive is reduced, for example by current imitation, until the transport rate of the acquisition unit is just above the maximum occurring transport rate of the output device. The torque value thus determined, which represents the torque requirement for overcoming the friction of the system, is stored and set as the nominal value during the document acquisition. As a drive motor can be used DC current motors as well as also load-controlled electronically commutated motors.

An arrangement for the control of movement of documents to an output device such as a printer or a copier in such a manner that the document draw-in rate automatically matches the document output rate. A document intake channel forces the incoming document into a curvature transversely to the direction of the transport of the documents, whereby the degree of curvature of the documents is a function of any tensile force on the documents. A sensor includes an analog and continuous output signal to affect a continuous change of the driving frequency for a motor causing the movement of the documents as a function of the actuation of the sensor.
