This disclosure provides a microwave radio transmitter for radio transmission to a microwave radio receiver. The microwave radio transmitter comprises an antenna arrangement and a baseband processing module connected to the antenna arrangement. The antenna arrangement comprises an antenna having a polarization. The baseband processing module is configured to receive a polarization misalignment indication from the microwave radio receiver. The polarization misalignment indication is indicative of a misalignment between the polarization of the antenna and a corresponding polarization of a receive antenna comprised in the microwave radio receiver. The baseband processing module is configured to compensate for polarization misalignment between the antenna and the receive antenna by adjusting the radio transmission based on the polarization misalignment indication.

This disclosure provides a microwave radio transmitter apparatus comprising an antenna arrangement and a precoder module connected to the antenna arrangement. The precoder module comprises an estimation module. The precoder module is configured to receive a number N of signals s, . . . , sand to generate N phase-adjusted transmit signals TX, . . . , TX. The antenna arrangement comprises N antenna elements a, i=1, 2, . . . , N. Each antenna element ais configured to obtain a respective phase-adjusted transmit signal TXfrom the pre-coder and to transmit the respective phase-adjusted transmit signal TX. The precoder module is configured to obtain an observation receive signal RX, the observation receive signal comprising signals transmitted from the N antenna elements. The estimation module is configured to estimate for each antenna element aa phase difference between the corresponding transmit signal TXand the observation receive signal RX. The precoder module is configured to adjust each transmit signal based on the estimated phase difference.
