To ascertain traffic status data, a speed of a vehicle is acquired multiple times at predefined time intervals. The respective acquired speed is assigned to a first speed range when the respective acquired speed of the vehicle is greater than at least one predefined speed threshold. Furthermore, a first count is increased when the respective acquired speed is assigned to the first speed range. The respective acquired speed is assigned to a second speed range when the respective acquired speed of the vehicle is less than the at least one speed threshold, and a second count is increased when the respective acquired speed is assigned to the second speed range, wherein a holding phase is recognized while the respective acquired speed has a speed value in a predefined range around the value zero once or multiple times in succession. During the recognized holding phase, the acquired speeds having the speed value in the predefined range around the value zero are not taken into consideration for a predefined non-consideration number of speed acquisition periods with respect to the adaptation of the second count.

Method and apparatus for determining traffic status

In a navigation method, at least one constant travel characteristic (CONST_KW) is determined that is representative of a vehicle-specific energy requirement with respect to a predetermined trip length at quasi-constant speed and on a quasi-level stretch. At least one dynamic characteristic (DYN_KW) is determined that is representative of a vehicle-specific energy requirement with respect to a predetermined trip length at quasi-dynamic speed and on a quasi-level stretch. The constant travel characteristic (CONST_KW) is respectively adapted on the basis of at least one vehicle-specifically determined energy consumption characteristic (EV_KW) for a traveled route segment that has been recognized as quasi-level and in which a quasi-constant speed was detected. To determine an expected energy requirement for a predetermined driving route (RT) with several route segments (STA), the individual route segments (STA) are each made available either as a constant travel segment (CONST_STA) or as a dynamic travel segment (DYN_STA). For each route segment (STA), the estimated route segment energy requirement characteristic (ST_EB_KW) is determined on the basis of a respective constant travel characteristic (CONST_KW) in the event of a route segment (STA) made available as a constant travel segment (CONST_STA) and on the basis of a respective dynamic characteristic (DYN_KW) in the event of a route segment made available as a dynamic travel segment. An estimated route energy requirement characteristic (RT_EB_KW) for the predetermined driving route (RT) is determined on the basis of the respective route segment energy requirement characteristics (ST_EB_KW).

Navigation method and navigation device

The method outputs graphic driving indications for assisting a motor vehicle driver in a driving maneuver. The graphic driving indications are displayed by a head-up display. A first graphic driving indication is in the form of a traffic lane change indication pointing out to the driver the direction from a traffic lane traveled at the beginning of the maneuver to a desired traffic lane. A second graphic driving indication is output in the form of a contact-analog traffic lane marking graphically emphasizing the desired traffic lane relative to other traffic lanes. A third graphic driving indication is in the form of a contact-analog maneuvering impulse including a driving funnel originating from the desired traffic lane and corresponding to the driving maneuver. A fourth graphic driving indication is a symbolic maneuvering display indication which symbolically displays the beginning driving maneuver after the vehicle enters into the driving funnel.

Method for the output of graphic driving indications

A method for the operation of a driver assistance system of a vehicle (CC), particularly of a motor vehicle and/or a commercial vehicle is provided. A message produced by a central computer (ZR), the message having traffic data (VD) and a confidence parameter (CL) which represents a measure for the reliability of the traffic data (VD) is received by a computer (RR) of the vehicle (CC). According to the magnitude of the confidence parameter, the transmission of a traffic status message (VZD), having at least one time stamp as well as coordinates of the vehicle (CC), is directed to the central computer.
